Exemplar-Based Image Inpainting Technique using Image Partitioning (Search Region Prior) Method (original) (raw)

Analysis and Implementation of Enhanced Image Inpainting method using adjustable patch sizes

International Journal of Emerging Trends in Engineering Research , 2021

Image inpainting is the process of reconstruction of the damaged image and removal of unwanted objects in an image. In the image inpainting process patch priority and selection of best patch plays a major role. The patch size is also considered for producing good results in the image inpainting. In this paper patch priority is obtained by introducing a regularization factor (ɷ). The best patch selection is acquired by using the Sum of Absolute Difference (SAD) distance method. The results of inpainting are investigated with adjustable patch sizes of 5×5, 7×7, 9×9, 11 × 11, and 13 × 13 for the proposed method. The performance of these adjustable patch sizes is observed by using Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Mean Square Error (MSE). The best suitable patch size for good inpainting is announced based on the values of PSNR and MSE.

A Survey on Exemplar-Based Image Inpainting Techniques

Preceding paper include exemplar-based image inpainting technique give idea how to inpaint destroyed region such as Criminisi algorithm, patch shifting scheme, search region prior method. Criminsi’s and Sarawut’s patch shifting scheme needed more time to inpaint an damaged region but proposed method decrease time complexity by searching only in related region of missing portion of image.

Improved Exemplar based Image Inpainting for Partial Instance Occlusion Handling with K-means Clustering and YCbCr Color Space

International Journal of Advanced Computer Science and Applications, 2021

The images acquired in real time outdoor environment are often subject to uneven illumination conditions, cloudy weather, lighting conditions. The instances of partial occlusions deteriorate the background modeling of such scenes. Varying illumination outdoor scene set of images with partial occlusions are addressed through this investigative work. There is a need for a restoration method that finds improved subjective perception and execution time. The proposed work focuses on novel amended exemplar model to improve the subjective perception. The exemplar inpainting method is improved through the color quantization with K-means clustering approach in YCbCr color space. Experimental validations and proposed method results show better improvement in qualitative and objective measures than existing methods. The average “Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR)” as 28.2869 and “Structural SIMilarity index (SSIM)” as 0.9759 of the proposed method has shown better results respectively both visu...

Detailed Survey on Exemplar Based Image Inpainting Techniques

2014

Image inpainting is a technique which is used to patch up the missing area in an image. In early years image inpainting techniques gained the high popularity in the field of image processing, used for restoration of damaged images. The aim of image inpainting is to fill in the missing area in an image which is visible to human eyes. Image inpainting is also applied for reinstallation of old images/films, correction of red-eye, object elimination in digital photographs, removal of spots of dust in image/film, creative effect by removing objects etc. There are different types of image inpainting techniques such asexemplar based image inpainting, texture synthesis based image inpainting, PDE based image inpainting, hybrid inpainting and Semi-automatic and Fast Inpainting. In this paper we provide a detailed survey on Exemplar based image inpainting. Keywords-Inpainting, Exemplar Based Inpainting, PDE Based Inpainting, Texture Synthesis, Hybrid Inpainting, Object Removal, Filling Area.

A Comparative Analysis of Exemplar Based Image Inpainting Algorithms

European Journal of Scientific …, 2011

Image inpainting refers to the task of filling in the missing or damaged regions of an image in an undetectable manner. Many researchers have proposed a large variety of exemplar based image inpainting algorithms to restore the structure and texture of damaged images. However no recent study has been undertaken for a comparative evaluation of these algorithms. In this paper, we are comparing various exemplar based image inpainting algorithms which do not have diffusion related blur in the result image. The analyzed algorithms are Antonio Criminisi et al's Region filling algorithm, Jiying Wu et al's Hybrid algorithm and Zhaolin Lu et al's Image completion algorithm. Both theoretical analysis and experiments have made to analyze the results of these exemplar based image inpainting algorithms on the basis of Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR).

Image inpainting based on image segmentation and segment classification

We present a new inpainting algorithm that is based on image segmentation and segment classification. First, we employ the mean shift algorithm to segment the input image. Then, we divide the original inpainting problem to be either one of the two problems: Large Segment Inpainting problem or Non-uniform Segments inpainting problem. The reason we do that is that human eye is more discerning to the errors in the structure and texture propagation of a large-uniform regions with less details while it is less discerning to errors in non-uniform regions with more details. We propose a novel algorithm for each one of the problems-Large Segment Inpainting and Nonuniform Segments inpainting-according to the main features of each one. The experimental results show the advantage of our technique which produces output images with better perceived visual quality.

Performance Analysis of Different Applications of Image Inpainting Based on Exemplar Technique

International Journal on Recent and Innovation Trends in Computing and Communication

In this age of rapidly developing image processing, inpainting has been a popular and practical art. Researchers have paid considerable attention to image inpainting throughout the years due to its enormous significance and effectiveness in a wide range of image processing applications, including the removal of scratches, the elimination of objects, and the modification of faces. It is one of the most challenging issues in image processing, demanding a comprehensive understanding of the image's texture and structure. The quality of inpainted image is a crucial factor which determines how close the inpainted image is to the original image. Many improvements have been implemented in the exemplar-based approach to increase the quality of inpainted regions containing structure and texture information. There are numerous ways to assess the quality of an inpainted image. In this study, the applications of exemplar based inpainting are evaluated using standard analytical measures inclu...

Review and Analysis of Different Image Inpainting Methods

IJSRD, 2014

Image inpainting is the process of filling of missing region so as to preserve its overall continuity. Image inpainting is manipulation and modification of an image in a form that is not easily detected. Digital image inpainting is relatively new area of research, but numerous and different approaches to tacked the inpainting problem have been proposed since the concept was first introduced. This paper compares two separate techniques viz, Exemplar based inpainting technique and Wavelet based inpainting technique, each portraying a different set of characteristics. This paper proposes a novel exemplar-based inpianting algorithm based upon the color distribution analysis. Color distribution is proposed to determine the confidence of the target patches situated on the boundary of the missing region by measuring the variation of variances of neighboring source patches. A review and analysis for different method were analysed which are explained below and image inpainting using TV model weighted method are analysed. Finally, the results of numerical experiments comparing this approach to inpainting to numerous others will be presented.

Exemplar based Image Inpainting with Reduced Search Region

International Journal of Computer Applications, 2014

Image inpainting is a technique to recover lost data or manually remove data from an image. This process is carried out in such a way that it seems reasonable to human eyes. The lost part of the image is filled with the remaining available data of the image. Inpainting can be done using various techniques, mainly variation based, exemplar based and wavelet based. In this paper, exemplar based image inpainting techniques is used and an algorithm which improves and extends the previously proposed algorithm is presented. Instead of searching the entire image, the proposed approach has reduced the search region by searching the nearby pixels since most of the relevant information lies in neighbouring pixels which reduces time to complete inpainting. This technique is mainly used for removing objects and cracks from the image.
