Background: The article assesses the significant role Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) countries, which comprise Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, play in economic development, and challenges experienced in realisation of economic goals. It is an area that is least researched in the domains of public administration.Aim: The focus of the article is on the role of BRICS in achieving economic development.Setting: The descriptive nature of the article provided a detailed explanation regarding the role of BRICS in the promotion of economic growth.Methods: The qualitative research method was adopted in this article to compile information.
