Studies of hydrolysable carbides XXVI: Composition limits of the NaCl-type yttrium oxycarbide phase (original) (raw)
1985, Journal of the Less Common Metals
Summa~ Yttrium metal, yttrium oxide and carbon mixed in various proportions were subjected to a diffusion reaction at 900-1200 "C! to give a multiphase product containing an NaCl-type cubic phase Y,(O, C, lJ), in addition to some of the starting materials and occasionally YC,. Two regions with cubic phase homogeneity were determined in the Y-O-C ternary diagram: one was adjacent to the Y ,(O, C), component in the Y,Oi + .C1-x region with x = 0-0.4 and was directed towards Y,C up to Y00.31C0.5100.1s, and the other was adjacent to the Y,(C, Cl), component in the region between YCO.s and YCe.s and was directed towards Y,UC up to YOo.o&O.@O~~.
