One percent of a world population earns over 20 000 USD per year, while the other 99 percent struggle to survive. Although acknowledging the valuable development work which several non-governmental organizations have accomplished, this licentiate thesis demonstrates how to bridge these two separate worlds and build a sustainable flourishing learning Village Community. The face-to-face interview study, literature review, and reference studies highlight the needs of villagers and the role of sustainable energy services, which are capable of empowering African villagers and their wellbeing. Collaborative change processes utilized the power of critical realism in complex system and participatory action research in multidisciplinary learning organizations. This study found that concrete prosocial goals are able to catalyze sustainable social changes and are recommended for development co-operation work.
