In this piece, I draw on Erica McWilliam’s model of Meddler in the Middle to disrupt familiar notions of teaching. The Meddler in the Middle provides an alternative to existing teaching models—the Sage on the Stage and the Guide on the Side—and foregrounds twenty-first-century skills such as problem solving, collaboration, and critical thinking. I explore possibilities for meddling in the context of high school English classrooms and teacher education courses through my teaching experiences; then I contemplate how the Meddler might function in our current standards-based environment.

Reading skill has its own modes; two of them are reading aloud and silent reading. Reading aloud and silent reading modes are interrelated with each other and affecting students' reading comprehension competence. The most EFL students’ common problems in the school is they do not know the appropriate techniques or modes applied in reading comprehension, therefore their reading comprehension results cannot be maximized. The researcher used quantitative research method and comparative study research design in conducting the research process. By using Reading Comprehension Test and interview, researcher collecting all the data in order to find deep information about how Indonesian EFL learners’ reading comprehension are through silent reading and reading aloud, its significance, and the factors that influence students’ reading comprehension score. The researcher took the samples in 34 students who divided into two groups; 17 students for silent group and 17 students for aloud group...

The objectives of this study were to find out: (1) If there would be a significant difference in speaking achievement between students who were taught-learnt speaking using the Beyond Centers and Circle Time (BCCT) technique and those who were taught-learnt speaking with the standard technique, and to find out (2) What would be the response of the students towards the use of the BCCT method. This experimental study was conducted with pre-school children at the TKIT Permata Sunnah in Banda Aceh in the 2017/2018 academic year. The sample for this research was two classes selected by random sampling: class B was the experimental class and class A was the control class. The data was collected with a speaking test plus interviews. An interview was used instead of a questionnaire, for answering the second research question, because the participants in this study were pre-school children. The data was analyzed using a t-test for the speaking test and collecting descriptions with an intervi...

The present age is the age of information. The globalization has affected every sphere of the life including education. In spite of availability of ICT infrastructure in schools, their potential is underutilized because of digital incompetence of the teachers. New digital technologies are acting as a catalyst towards improvement of learning outcome and enhancing quality of education, but only introduction of such technologies in schools for producing change and innovation is not enough, it requires digitally competent teachers to facilitate the use of ICT in education. These teachers will act as facilitators and mentors to students to lead them towards problem solving and innovation to meet the new challenges of globalization. Teachers must be able to create learning environments which are student centric and foster creativity, Meta cognition, meta-literacy, collaboration and communication in learners. Mere superficial use of ICT in teaching will not yield the required learning outcome, but the integration of ICT in pedagogy is important to enhance teaching, learning process. This can be done only when teachers are competent enough to use ICT tools and facilitate ICT integrated education. In this paper, we tried to assess the teacher's perspective about the ICT and investigate the factors responsible for resistance of teachers in using ICT in schools and suggestive measures for successful integration of ICT in the teaching process by the teachers of Rajouri district (J&K, India). The ICT skills are very important for teachers to support alternative modes of teaching, learning, i.e. e-learning, mobile learning in the present outbreak of pandemic disease caused by Coronavirus-COVID19.

English proficiency is absolutely necessary for Indonesian students to succeed in international competition. Some English lessons relatively difficult to be comprehended by Indonesian students are related to tenses and aspects. There must be creativity in teaching, such as incorporating the lessons in the form of a comic book. A comic is a way of communication favored by many people, ranging from children to young adults, like college students. It communicates ideas through pictures and words. The study aims to design a comic as a learning medium of tenses and aspects in English. The educational comic is expected to support government program in improving English education, especially the students' understanding of Tenses and Aspects. It uses a qualitative method. Data concerning difficulties encountered by students in understanding tenses and aspects are collected through observation, literature reviews and interviews. Then the collected data are processed into a comic by applying management and design theories. The result of this study is a bilingual, full-color comic book containing a theory of English tenses and aspects included in daily activities and heroic stories that are inspiring for students.

Figures and/or pictures may be missing from this format of the document.*** Article: Why do we human beings have such powerful emotional responses to music? How do composers, conductors, and other musicians think in sound? What happens when a pianist suddenly loses control over his hands and can no longer perform? These and a myriad of similar questions have led to a more general question: How does music "work" in the brain? Our understanding of the phenomenon of music as it relates to brain functions has been hampered by a number of factors. Two of the most important obstacles have been a lack of research focus, as evidenced by a very diffuse data base; and a lack of communication and sharing among those who know neuroscience and those who know music.

Vocabulary functions as an existential foundation for language. Furthermore, vocabulary learning is one of the most problematic fields in second language learning. It has attracted cynosure of a wealth of studies in recent years. However, the fact that majority of Iranian second language (L2) learners have learnt English through traditional methods has compounded the problem. To arrive at a better understanding of this problem, this study compared the effect of visual cues versus textual input-enhancement on vocabulary learning of Iranian intermediate EFL learners. A predominantly quantitative approach, along with a quasi-experimental design, was used. 90 EFL learners were selected and, following a pre-test, were randomly assigned to two experimental groups (visual cues and textual input-enhancement) and a control group. After the treatment, a posttest was administered for all groups. Thorough analysis of the data obtained using paired t-test and one-way ANOVA, it was indicated that visual cues have a significant impact on vocabulary learning of Iranian intermediate EFL learners.

The advantages of incorporating technology-enhanced flipped learning in English classrooms are nothing new. However, the impact of incorporating the learning method on the occurrence and decline of students’ characters has not much been revealed. This study aims to fill the void by exploring the students’ perceptions of whether flipped learning and the use of technology in learning English can instill character education. Eighty-four (n=84) Indonesian undergraduate EFL students participated in this study. A 22-item questionnaire with a checklist and open-ended types was filled out after the students completed a 16-week course. While percentages were obtained from the checklist responses, codes and categories were generated from the open-ended responses. The results revealed that flipped learning could instill character values of responsibility, independence, and curiosity. The in-class group discussion was considered as the most contributing activity to the instillment of character ...

This research aims is to determine (1) lexical ambiguity in Haninpost newspaper advertisements (한인포스트) and the meaning contained in these lexical ambiguities and (2) the cause of lexical ambiguity in Haninpost newspaper advertisements. This research is motivated by the possibility of misinterpretation of the message conveyed by an author of advertisements in the language of advertisements. For a native speaker of Korean can immediately understand the message conveyed in the advertisement. Unlike the case with Korean language learners who do not necessarily understand all the words written in the advertisements because the message conveyed is ambiguous. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used in this research are literature study and documentation studies.

Theoractive learning is an essential ingredient that can complement various academic theories, making them easier to apply to a learning environment. Although it appears that theoractive learning is the effect of the beneficial causes of teaching and learning in certain contextual settings; theoractive learning is, however, actions-oriented and relies on Skills, Ability, Competences and Intelligences (SACI). Theoractive learning research was conducted at the University of Tamperre, Finland, in 2011 with students' participants from 7 countries. Although the participants found difficult to relate the transformation of theories into practices, they were theoractively conscious. A theoractive actions-orientation is based on critical reflexivity of content and process learning. It teaches through Art and Science educational domains, while applying a multi-dimensional attachment of theories and practices. The Art of Science and the Science of Art are two non-comparable and inseparable phenomena that are reliant on theoractiveness of orienting actions through the learning paradigms of content learning, process learning, and critical reflexivity, which requires SACI.

Spontaneous dialogue is an example of spoken text in which its potential can be observed through its conversational structure. As an attempt to interpret the language in spoken text, the paper investigates a spontaneous dialogue in Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian). The discussion focuses on its conversational structure within systemic functional framework. The structure is built up in the semantic stratum by looking at its exchange and commodity for its speech function. The exchanges are realized by Initiate/Respond moves and the commodity could be either Knowledge or Action oriented. Since a spontaneous dialogue is a contextual phenomenon in experiencing language use, the finding of conversational structure can bring further discussion on connections among individuals bearing cultural identities realized by their experiences through languages. Keywords: conversational structure, exchange, commodity, systemic functional linguistics.

In this article we report an ethnographic case study of observing the teaching and learning of English at a school for visually impaired students in Bandar Lampung, Indonesia. Data collection included student and teacher interviews. It also covered class observation and used a social constructivist framework of disability. The study revealed that the students received inadequate modifications of instruction in foreign language learning. However, the students used a variety of resources with the screen reader technology such as Non Visual Desktop Access (NVDA) and Job Access with Speech (JAWS). These findings suggest that visually impaired students actually can have unique ways of learning foreign language supported by the assistive technology. These abilities should be acknowledged to obtain the perspectives of students who receive disability specific education. Moreover, the study might provide a further facet to the research especially on the importance of learning strategies in s...

In language acquisition, children use prosody in their comprehension and production of utterances. In line with that, as a case study in this research, I analyze two particular aspects of prosody in a child’s language acquisition, i.e. prosodic phrasal grouping and intonational prominence. In the first aspect, I investigate whether the child uses prosodic phrases to group words together into interpretable units. In the second aspect, I analyze whether the child uses intonational prominence to focus marking prosody. The result indicates that both aspects are used by the child. Keywords: language acquisition, prosody, intonation, phonetic cues.

This article aims to explore the representation of the fugal form in A Mercy (2008) by Toni Morrison as regards the non-linear complexity of the plot revealed in multiple story lines and multiple voices. The analysis of A Mercy is based on Mikhail Bakhtin's theory of the polyphonic novel. The present paper places the focus of analysis on the musical polyphony, notably on the principle of counterpoint, according to which a literary text can be structured. The novel consists of twelve sections, some of which are written in the first person, and the others, in the third person. Nevertheless, in the sections written in the third person the characters appear to be independent from the author, and the reader hears their individualized voices as the third person pieces of narration are told from the characters' perspectives. The same events and people enter the consciousnesses of eight different characters and are interpreted from their points of view. Toni Morrison's A Mercy is viewed as a triple fugue in which eight individualized thematically related voices enter the novel successively and develop three subjects DIFFERENCE, LOSS, and MERCY contrapuntally. The cycling of three subjects through the intertwined voices, the modifications of the subjects, a great complexity of repetition, the juxtaposition of the figures and points of view, and the overlapping of the voices speaking of the same periods of time and the same events testify to the fact that the novel is polyphonic and reveals evident features of the fugue.

Information Communication Technology (ICT) has become driving force in today's society strengthening national economies and supporting democratic processes worldwide. ICT has been a significant area of research, but its nature changed considerably with the emergence of the Internet. The Internet service is provided through different means including telecenters. New technologies should be adopted and accepted by the society to benefit from their potential advantage. Many researchers, in the field of ICT, have studied and proposed models of technology acceptance. One of those models is the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) which was proposed by Venkatesh et al (2003) and used in this research to find out direct determinant factors of telecenters for Internet services. In this research it is tried to find out the core constructs of telecenters' Internet services intention to use and use behavior. Literature review has been done with respect to models of technology acceptance, ICT, telecenters and technology adoption. Self-administered questionnaire was used to collect primary data from 200 users of telecenters for Internet services. All the 200 questionnaires were usable; and demographic and descriptive statistics and Partial Least Square (PLS) regression were used to analyze the data. The study has found that performance expectancy and effort expectancy have positive influence in behavioral intention and behavioral intention has positive influence in use behavior of telecenters' Internet services.

Successful reading necessitates the application of metacognitive reading strategies, which have been proven to be effective in enhancing comprehension in EFL contexts. is quasiexperimental study, thus, aimed to implement a problem-based learning method (PBL) in an EFL instructional setting to investigate its effect on EFL learners' metacognitive reading strategies awareness and use and their comprehension ability. Two groups of students at the elementary level, one experimental (N 40) and one control (N 40) were selected. eir homogeneity in English proficiency was probed by Key English Test (KET). e experimental group received PBL and the control group followed the explicit lecture-based teaching method. e two groups completed preand posttest of metacognitive awareness of reading strategies inventory (MARSI) and reading comprehension. e findings based on univariate analysis of covariance indicated that the experimental group had high metacognitive reading strategies awareness and enhanced their comprehension ability to a high extent. Practitioners should pay special attention to the PBL method in EFL contexts if they want to enhance metacognitive strategies awareness and cultivate effective reading.

: This paper analyzed narrative texts of Senior High School textbooks for X Grade, based on Jackendoff’s and Saeed’s theories of thematic role. This research employed a qualitative research design and the data were ten narrative texts taken from Developing English Competencies and Interlanguage for X Grade. The research Questions involve the ways of thematic role in constructing the sentence’s meaning in narrative texts and the thematic role that mostly employed. This research revealed that nine kinds of thematic role (Agent, Patient, Location, Beneficiary, Experiencer, Theme, Source, Goal, and Instrument) are available in narrative texts and the role Theme was frequently employed (260 times of 782). Meanwhile, thematic role constructs the sentence’s meaning in narrative texts by observing the verb and the preposition used in the sentence. Thematic role is a way to describe the role of noun phrase in a sentence, so that thematic role is closely related with the grammatical functio...

Accurate pronunciation is an important component of language ability and the main outward linguistic sign of whether someone is a native speaker of a language or not. An area of particular difficulty for Persian-speaking learners of English, which may cause 'foreign accent' or misunderstanding in speaking, is placement of stress on multi-syllable words. Game-based pronunciation teaching can be a pedagogical option to tackle that problematic feature of English pronunciation as it incorporates both implicit and explicit approaches to instruction. This study, therefore, investigates the effects of using a pronunciation game on learning stress placement on multi-syllable English words by young Iranian intermediate EFL learners. Fifty-two intermediate EFL learners were randomly selected through administration of Preliminary English Test (PET) and divided into two groups: the experimental group (group A) containing 27 students and the control group (Group B) containing 25 students...

This study aims to compare semantic analysis of animal-themed idioms in English and Indonesian. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the study aims to identify the form and inner meaning of idioms in both languages. Data were mainly collected from the Oxford Dictionary of Idioms for English idioms, and various online sources for Indonesian idioms. The analysis is based on Fernando's (1996) theory of idioms, which groups them into pure idioms, semi-idioms, and literal idioms, and Saeed's (1997) theory of meaning, which distinguishes between literal and non-literal meanings. The findings show that some idioms in both languages have similarities in form and literal meaning, while many others differ significantly due to cultural and contextual factors. These findings highlight the importance of semantic and cultural context in understanding and translating idiomatic expressions, especially in cross-linguistic and intercultural communication.

Using the concept of the "constructed child" to reflect on "the child writer," this paper addresses the ways in which educators make sense of what the child does when he or she writes in school. The paper draws upon experiences with 5-to 10-year-old children in a recent study of child writers, especially 8-year-old Ayesha. It pays careful attention to the children educators know in order to reconstruct the image of the child. The paper considers the dominant ways in which educators have constructed the child writer, and illustrates one way of reconceiving that child. The paper suggests that reihinking dominant images might help educators better meet the curricular challenges of the current time--among those challenges is the need to envision the child in ways that construct hope for and belief in the diversity of chilthen. Complex Dynamic Systems Theory (CDST), an instantiation in applied linguistics of complexity epistemology that transcends disciplinary boundaries, has gained much traction and momentum over the last decade, finding expressions in a fast-growing number of empirical second language developmental studies. However, the literature, while rapidly expanding, has displayed much confusion, notably oscillating between invoking CDST as a metatheory and as an object theory. Then, too, the metaphorical genesis of CDST-the metaphorical adoption of complexity epistemology from physical sciences-has seemed to invite miscellaneous interpretations, rendering CDST an ostensibly all-in-one conceptual prism. This article explores the epistemology of CDST, tracing its ontology and examining its role in second language developmental research. This enables a more nuanced understanding of CDST, while at once surfacing critical issues and directions for future research, as it moves toward a pluralistic approach to investigating CDST as a potentially unique lens on second language development.

The national education structure is a fundamental foundation in determining the direction and quality of a nation's education. In the era of globalization, education systems face new challenges and opportunities that require structural and functional adjustments. This article explores how Indonesia's national education structure responds to global dynamics, including the integration of technology, 21st-century competencies, and global competitiveness demands. This study employs a qualitative approach through literature review as its primary method. The findings reveal that despite various educational reforms, disparities in access, quality, and relevance persist across regions in Indonesia. Therefore, synergy between the government, educational institutions, and society is essential to build an adaptive, inclusive, and globally oriented education structure without losing national identity. This study is expected to contribute to the formulation of resilient education policies in the face of globalization.

This research aimed to examine the relationship between the use of English reading materials and the improvement of students' English language performance in Lower Secondary Schools in the Shyira sector. Based on the Simple View of Reading (SVR) and the Cognitive Load Theory (CLT), the descriptive research design with a mixed approach was employed. Two selected schools were studied: one with a well-equipped library containing English reading materials and the other with a poorly equipped library lacking English reading materials. The study population consisted of 106 individuals, including 92 lower secondary students, 10 teachers, and 4 Deputy Head teacher in charge of studies /teachers, selected randomly from a population of 145. Primary data and secondary data were collected through questionnaires and interview guides. Quantitative data was analyzed descriptively by use of excel and the Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS) while qualitative data was subjected to thematic analysis. The findings reveal the use of various reading materials, such as newspapers, textbooks, handouts, dictionaries, expert opinions, poetry, online readings, and adventure stories in Lower Secondary Schools in the Shyira sector. It was observed that the lack of English reading materials and libraries in lower secondary schools leads to poor English performance among students. The study suggests strategies to improve learners' English skills, including promoting the use of English reading materials, fostering a culture of reading, and motivating students to utilize libraries. Additionally, teachers should serve as English role models and actively encourage reading to enhance students' motivation.

This research aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of using educational comics based on Creative Problem Solving (CPS) with the help of Kvisoft Flipbook Maker Pro as an interactive learning tool for elementary school students. This research adopts the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model development approach. Initial analysis was carried out to identify student needs and elementary school characteristics. Then, educational comics were developed by combining the CPS concept and Kvisoft Flipbook Maker Pro technology. Field trials were conducted to evaluate its effectiveness. The innovation of this research lies in the use of a combination of the CPS approach and interactive flipbook technology. This educational comic not only aims to convey information, but also stimulates students' creativity and problemsolving abilities through interactivity. The research results include the development of educational comics that are integrated with Kvisoft Flipbook Maker Pro. Evaluation is carried out through measuring increased student understanding, active involvement in the learning process, and positive responses from teachers and students. This research is expected to contribute to curriculum development literature by integrating creative and technological approaches in learning. In addition, it can provide new insights into the use of flipbook technology in the context of elementary education.

This themed section of the Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning centers Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) as a promising approach for building with and extending the interplay of voices, perspectives, and intersectional identities of youth–who we identify as individuals age 15–24, aligning with the United Nations definition–as youth enact contemporary movements toward justice in the ongoing work of and quest for social justice (Marciano & Watson, 2021; Richards-Schuster et al., 2019; Watson & Petrone, 2020). Specifically, we welcomed for inclusion in this special section renderings within and across contexts of service learning that foreground such participatory approaches. Such critical teaching and research stances actively engage young people in creating and developing knowledge about the issues that impact their lives and using their knowledge to take action. Such engagements involve youth-led efforts and youth-adult partnership efforts, among others, and in all cases center the meaningful and authentic role of young people within and across the research and knowledge development endeavor. YPAR challenges positivistic notions of researcher objectivity, instead considering youth as producers of knowledge whose lived experiences and perspectives provide valuable insight for examining issues that matter to them (Aldana & Richards-Schuster, 2021; Caraballo et al., 2017; Malorni et al., 2022; Marciano et al., 2020; Warren & Marciano, 2018; Watson et al., 2020).

Scholarship on field experiences often addresses issues of integration with coursework and the development of students’ pedagogical knowledge, with less focus on their role in the development of teachers’ professional identities. Drawing on data from a yearlong qualitative study, this article addresses a central concern for students in a literacy teacher preparation program—fieldwork as a lonely venture. This research suggests that traditional field experiences explicitly and implicitly perpetuate images of teaching as a solitary act. These findings highlight the need to reconceptualize field experiences as sites of inquiry in order to disrupt narratives of isolation within teacher education.

This study aimed to examine the effect of body image and self-esteem on selfie addiction among fresh female students at Ahfad University(Sudan), as well as to investigate the correlation between body image and self-esteem. To achieve those objectives, the researcher adopted the descriptive research method. The sample included (400) female students whose average age was (22.5) years, selected by using a simple random sample. The study was conducted by administering three scales. The results of the study indicated that (50%) of the sample suffered from the selfie addiction between moderate to severe levels. There was a significant correlation between selfie addiction, self-esteem and body image. Moreover, it was found that both body image and self-esteem had a predictive ability to increase likelihood of selfie addiction among females. The study recommended that professionals should consider preparing prevention programs for those who have traits of a selfie addiction behavior.

A range of language teaching methods and approaches including Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) have been widely researched and used in English education. In the early 2000s, Scott Thornbury and Luke Meddings introduced "Teaching Unplugged: Dogme in English Language Teaching," challenging the effectiveness of the other language teaching methods that are heavily reliant on textbooks and technology. They argued that the overreliance on such facilities hinders the creation of a truly communicative learning environment. This approach offers an innovative perspective on language education to ensure more student-centered learning and communicative language learning experiences, particularly in schools lacking adequate infrastructure and technology. Inspired by the approach, the theoretical research introduces and provides a conceptual design of teacher training relevant to novice Indonesian EFL teachers, especially those working at schools in Indonesia's most remote and disadvantaged areas. The training is designed based on the theoretical framework of the approach and critical reviews of 10 (ten) related empirical studies by investigating the relevance of the approach to the context of English education at the most disadvantaged schools in Indonesia. Upon the program completion, the prospective participants especially novice EFL teachers are expected to be able to improve their language and pedagogical skills needed in their school contexts despite the insufficient facilities they have in a class by implementing the principles of the Teaching Unplugged approach for a more student-centered, engaging, and communicative language class, which is also in line with the goals of the recent curriculum, the Merdeka curriculum.

In learning a language, students are supposed to study linguistics in order to be able to recognize the root of words, how they are formed, and the context of language. This study aimed to explain the realization of the derivational process, the inflectional process, and the causes of the error in the students' writing. This study used a descriptive qualitative design. The researchers analyzed the students' writing essays written by the XII-graders of the Vocational High School Al-Musyaffa Kendal in the academic year 2021/2022. The instruments are document analysis theory and interview. It used the theory of Dulay et.al. (1982). The findings demonstrate that the students made errors that belong to both the derivational and the inflectional processes. Most of the students made errors in the omission of derivation, yet they made fewer errors in the addition and malformation of derivation. Besides, there were many problems in dealing with the inflection. Most of the students were confused about how to deal with the omission of noun inflection and the omission of verb inflection. Nevertheless, they made fewer errors in the misordering of verb inflection. In addition, the cause of the error that the students did was mostly carelessness as it occurs due to students' lack of motivation and less enthusiasm in engaging in the teaching and learning process. Expectantly, this research will provide an essential contribution as a reference in comprehending word formation and contribute to teaching and learning of forming English words.

This study compares the communication strategies employed in synchronous and asynchronous media during the learning of English. E-learning has been employed more frequently. This condition enables English subjects to be taught and learned in a setting without face-to-face interaction. E-learning is available in both synchronous and asynchronous modes. Based on the communication methods that arose in both modes, this study was done to present the emergence of communication strategies in both media. The present study involved 36 university students who were enrolled in a teaching methodology course and one lecturer. Specifically, the data were gathered through WhatsApp Group observation and Zoom interviews. The discussion of the study was presented using an explanatory format because it was a qualitative study. From the study, there were 3 types of communication strategies found in synchronous (Zoom), namely codeswitching (87%), time-gaining (13%), and foreignizing (0,3%). While in as...

English is the primary language of communication in the aviation industry. Aviation English is a subset of English for Special Purposes (ESP) that applies to all air traffic controllers and anyone interested in aeronautics or aviation. However, it is more difficult because most pilots and crew members do not speak English as their first language. The researcher discovered that English is still a barrier for students to reach the criteria necessary for graduates of the Faculty of Aerospace Technology based on preliminary investigations conducted at the Institut Teknologi Dirgantara Adisutjipto (ITDA) Yogyakarta. To evaluate the extent to which teachers implement digital and pedagogical techniques with their students, the researcher utilized a methodology named TPACK The design of this research was a form of qualitative research: a case study. The instruments were questionnaires, observation checklists, and interview questions. Based on the finding, the writer concludes that the ITDA ...

Using stories in teaching foreign language, it forces the teacher to be crative and innovative to encourage the young learners to enjoy reading stories. The teacher has to be smart to select which one approaches or methods which can enhance learning foreign language and character building in the teaching foreign language process. The storyline approach was specifically designed for the use at primary schools. The storyline method (Storyline) for teaching children at primary schools was mainly developed in 1967 by a team of teachers from Jordanhill College of Education (now known as University of Strathclyde) in Glasgow, Scotland. The primary schools in Scotland use a curriculum that involves integration of new topics, such as environmental studies and expressive arts, in their teaching foreign language process. This method could be one of alternative method that be applied in teaching foreign language to Elementary School or English Courses for Children in Indonesia.

English neoclassical compounds rely on a distinct vocabulary stock and present morphological features which raise a number of theoretical questions. Generalisations about neoclassical compounds are also problematic because the output is by no means homogeneous, that is, defining features of neoclassical compounds sometimes co-exist with features that are not prototypical of these formations. The paper looks at neoclassical compounds with a view to exploring patterns of morphological behaviour and development in this class of compounds. The approach is both synchronic and diachronic: it researches whether the morphological behaviour of recently formed compounds is different from that of earlier compounds and, if so, in which respects. This is assessed on data from the BNC with respect to some of the features that are cited in the literature as defining properties of neoclassical compounds, specifically, their internal configuration, the occurrence or not of a linking vowel, and their...
