The Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with roots going back to the Balfour Declaration in 1917 and the establishment of Israel in 1948, remains one of the most enduring and destabilizing geopolitical crises of our time. The violence that erupted on October 7, 2023, following Hamas's attacks and Israel's military response in Gaza and Lebanon, is just the latest manifestation of a conflict that has deep historical roots. The ongoing occupation, forced displacement, and systemic discrimination against Palestinians make lasting peace feel elusive.

More than fifty years of conflict in Colombia has left a country with many needs. This article analyzes how Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) can contribute to improving communities affected by violence in a post-conflict stage. This paper begins with an introduction focused on the processes of the generation of violence and the peace agreement, following the role of the UN in the post-conflict stage. A conceptual analysis of the actors involved in Science, Technology, and Innovation activities is also presentedwith one analysis of the activities of STI that can contribute to the post-conflict, continuing with some financing strategies for the activities of STI and a brief description of the legal framework STI against the post-conflict. The paper concludes with some recommendations and opportunities in this new era for the country.

Steven Bouma-Prediger presents a compelling theological case for why caring for the Earth is integral to Christian discipleship. Writing with a pastoral tone that blends scriptural reflection, theology, and personal stories, he reframes “stewardship” as “earthkeeping” to emphasize the biblical call to care for creation (Genesis 2:15). The book explores the ecological insights of Christian tradition, draws from a wide range of theological voices, and offers practical steps for living simply and sustainably. Bouma-Prediger argues that ecological care reflects God’s love for all creatures, challenging common end-times interpretations that devalue the Earth. He addresses environmental justice and racism, urging Christians to develop ecological consciousness grounded in gratitude, generosity, and Sabbath rest. While the book’s theological and political implications may be controversial, it remains a rich academic and pastoral resource.

This study examines the liberal/illiberal dichotomy in peace studies, highlighting how normative biases embedded within this framework marginalizes alternative approaches to peacebuilding. The liberal peace model has shaped both academic discourse and policy paradigms in peace processes. However, its intellectual and practical hegemony often reduces non-liberal or hybrid frameworks to "illiberal" approaches, portraying them as deficient or unstable. This normative bias simplifies the diversity of conflict resolution efforts and neglects context-specific strategies. The study addresses the question: How does the liberal/illiberal dichotomy limit our understanding of international peace processes, and what conceptual alternatives can foster a more inclusive framework? Using critical analysis and conceptual inquiry, the study proposes a multi-normative approach, informed by distinctions between process-and content-related norms, to better account for the complexity of peace efforts. The discussion underscore the need to move beyond binary framings and embrace inclusive frameworks that reflect the diversity of peacebuilding strategies in varying geopolitical and cultural contexts.

Cameroon, traditionally overlooked on the international peace agenda, has recently received increased attention due to mounting security challenges. Operating under an authoritarian regime that denies conflicts while promoting a narrative of stability, the course of international peace-from-below initiatives is profoundly influenced by this constrained political environment. Through in-depth case studies of three ongoing humanitarian crises—the Central African refugees’ influx, the Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province insurgency, and the Anglophone conflict—this article contends that localized peace approaches, centring on grassroots reconciliation, may obscure broader structural issues, silence non-state political claims from below, and absolve the state of its responsibilities. Embracing such methodologies not only reinforces authoritarian dynamics but also exhibits a performative dimension, contributing to the establishment of a ‘victor’s peace’ in the absence of military victory.

Since the original purpose of asylum is to provide weak persons who flee conflicts and other crises occurring in their homelands to foreign territories with protection, international law actors should strict themselves to the human accurate application of asylum rules to achieve the true humanitarian objective of asylum. However, practice discloses several examples of exploiting asylum for evil purposes, i.e., impunity. Perpetrators of gross atrocities against innocents that occur during conflicts in a country seek to enjoy the protection offered by asylum. This presents a severe crisis threatening the applicability and credibility of international law. In this study, the phenomenon of exploiting the asylum notion by a perpetrator to seek impunity is analyzed by studying the case of outposted Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and the Russian decision to grant him asylum status on humanitarian grounds, regardless of the judicial endeavors to prosecute him for the atrocities attributable to his regime in Syria. The research aims to point out the negative impacts of political influence on asylum decisions and how this interference promotes international impunity.

This study was on ''Harari Proverbs in Context: Exploring their Social and Cultural Functions." As a pushing factor, 'Harari proverbs have gradually been vanished from the Harari people.' One among some claims is that these functions and continuity have been declined from time to time, and little attention has been given to the exploration and the documentation of Harari proverbs. To this end, the general objective of this study was to collect, describe, and analyze Harari proverbs based on their contextual functions. As the research design employed in this study depicted, descriptive and diagnostic research approaches and case study methods along with purely qualitative dimensions were employed. Moreover, the Contextual and Functional approaches have been used as a theoretical framework for the study. The results of the study identified themes expressed through functions such as proverbs that depict religious life, societal bonding, depicting women, and criticizing malignancy. Proverbs that revealed on reviewing malevolence, enhancing cooperation, and reflecting boost work morale and uphold social commentary. It also reflects historical events that were examined. Harari proverbs play a major role in strengthening tribal solidarity and creating public responses to social, cultural, and economic obstacles. Additionally, this study sought to show that proverbs can be used for lifting the community up, preserving culture and cultivating responsible individuals.

The principles of objectivity and subjectivity are two important pillars in the philosophy of law. The objective principle requires that laws be made and enforced based on rationality and universal morality, ensuring that laws are logical, accountable, non-discriminatory, and aligned with the values of justice and human dignity. Philosophers such as Immanuel Kant, Thomas Aquinas, and Hans Kelsen support the view that law should be based on reason, reflect natural law, and be scientifically testable without subjective elements. On the other hand, the subjective principle focuses on the rights and obligations of individuals as rational, moral, and free legal subjects. This means that humans possess inherent rights and obligations from birth, such as the right to life and the right to fair treatment, and the law must recognize and protect human dignity. Human Rights (HR) are a universal manifestation of this subjective principle. These two principles often conflict, especially when public interests clash with rights.

This study examines how Generation Z in conflict-affected regions of Pakistan perceives peace and understands its role in peacebuilding processes. Grounded in the Conservation of Resources (COR) theory, the research explores how youth navigate political instability, institutional mistrust, and socioeconomic inequality to construct everyday meanings of peace. Using a qualitative approach, the study draws on fifty semi-structured interviews with university students from Kohat University, primarily representing conflict-prone districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Thematic analysis reveals five interlinked themes: (1) political stability as a prerequisite for peace and good governance; (2) ethical and independent media as a site of both accountability and civic engagement; (3) education as a transformative tool that fosters critical thinking, tolerance, and participatory citizenship; (4) the contested role of traditional justice systems like the Jirga in local dispute resolution; and (5) digital platforms as spaces for everyday activism, where youth challenge dominant narratives and promote alternative visions of justice. While many participants expressed disillusionment with existing institutions, they also articulated resilient strategies to reclaim agency through education, media, and civic participation. The study underscores the generational shift from passive media consumption to active digital engagement, linking youth-led activism with broader peacebuilding efforts. It recommends youth-inclusive governance, peace-oriented curriculum reform, and balanced media regulations to support sustainable peace. By centering youth perspectives, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of how conflict-affected communities imagine peace not as the absence of violence, but as the presence of justice, dignity, and voice.

Conflicts between students and teachers in 21st-century education reflect a multidimensional crisis encompassing psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions within the school ecosystem. The prevailing competitive and individualistic culture has weakened empathy and spiritual awareness, thereby distorting the fundamental aim of education as the formation of holistic human beings. This study aims to explore the role of the Religious Quotient (RQ) as a conflict resolution approach that emphasizes love, sincerity, and spiritual responsibility. Using a reflective qualitative method, this article analyzes how RQ can be integrated into pedagogical practices and the teacher's role as a spiritual mentor. The findings reveal that strengthening RQ not only enhances the teacher's ethical competence in managing conflict, but also fosters a peaceful, inclusive, and transformative educational space. Schools that adopt this paradigm have the potential to become spiritual communities that restore social relationships and uphold human dignity.

Nearly half of all countries emerging from civil conflict relapse into war within a few years of signing a peace agreement. The postwar trajectories of armed groups vary from organizational cohesion to dissolution, demilitarization to remilitarization. In Organized Violence after Civil War, Daly analyzes evidence from thirty-seven militia groups in Colombia, demonstrating that the primary driving force behind these changes is the variation in recruitment patterns within, and between, the warring groups. She documents the transition from war to peace through interviews with militia commanders, combatants and victims. Using rich ex-combatant survey data and geo-coded information on violence over fifty years of war, Daly explains the dynamics inside armed organizations and the strategic interactions among them. She also shows how the theory may be used beyond Colombia, both within the region of Latin America and across the rest of the world.

At the end of World War II, countries involved in war crimes issued apologies for their large-scale atrocities. In East Asia, studies showed that Japan has apologized for war crimes committed against South Korean comfort women at the comfort station. Yet, since 1991, the persistent court cases against Japan suggest Japan's wartime apologies have failed to reconcile wartime survivors and yield intergroup forgiveness. Why is this so? The study interrogates the legal culture of Japan as a measure to unravel South Korea's intractable unacceptance of Japan's war apology claims. We explored culture as a peculiar group identity and focused on the distinctive Japanese legal culture associated with Nihonjinron. Findings revealed that Japan's legal culture of giri is endogenous in contrast to South Korea's exogenous transitional justice of litigation culture, frequently used by survivors to pursue justice. These dualities of legal culture between Japan and South Korea, notably Japan's intricacies of interpersonal apology, shame culture, and apology mannerisms, have political, economic, and security ramifications between Japan and South Korea. The study suggests the establishment of the Truth Commission as an alternative middle ground for a dispute resolution mechanism between Japan and its neighbours.

The military-industrial complex is elephantine, yet it is rarely taken into account by political commentators. Connected to almost everything, it is one reason why the home front sustains our aggressive, illegal, military interventions and occupations throughout the world. Many good people are in thrall to the military-industrial complex, and consequently are silenced, unwilling to become active opponents. These include liberals, social justice advocates, and even professional soldiers who question our illegal interventions. There are, of course, some protesters in our nation, but not enough to make militarism the main issue in Congressional and Presidential elections, or to give the subject much visibility on a daily basis.

Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) have been one of the non-state actors that have contributed to world peace and peaceful coexistence; NGOs have served as a platform for individuals and organizations to contribute to peacebuilding and resolve various humanitarian crises. Every part of the world has its peculiarities; hence, it becomes imperative for international NGOs to face various challenges while discharging their duties. This paper focuses on identifying the roles and impediments of international NGOs in peacebuilding in the northeastern region of Nigeria. This paper adopted a qualitative research method, and the qualitative data was collected through journals, research publications, websites, and textbooks. The data collected reveals that illiteracy, insecurity, customs, and traditional beliefs, among other factors, are impediments that hinder the operations of international NGOs in the Northeast Region of Nigeria. This paper also identifies the roles of international NGOs in peacebuilding; education and research, provision of relief materials, provision of health care, and provision of social amenities are some of the roles of international NGOs identified in this paper. This paper suggested that the government should invest more in the education sector or adopt the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) education funding policy, and NGOs should partner with traditional rulers, as they are the custodians of traditions and customs, to ensure proper implementation of their policies and execution of their programs.

This paper explores the foundational question: What is Pakistani philosophy? Rather than seeking to define it as an existing school of thought, the inquiry examines its perceived absence, its displacement into adjacent domains, and the structural conditions under which a distinct philosophical tradition might emerge. Despite a rich intellectual landscape across law, theology, literature, and ethics, Pakistan has not developed a formally recognized philosophical canon. The paper engages with the intellectual legacy of Allama Iqbal, widely regarded as a pivotal philosophical voice-and considers how his ideas continue to inform discourse while remaining open to reinterpretation in light of contemporary challenges. It further explores how philosophical inquiry in Pakistan often occurs through nonphilosophical fields such as jurisprudence, mysticism, and activism. Arguing that such a tradition is unlikely to emerge from current institutional settings, the paper suggests that it will more plausibly be shaped by independent thinkers across disciplines. It concludes by outlining the contours of a future Pakistani philosophy: contextually grounded, intellectually plural, and epistemically self-directed.

As the diverse group of individuals nds themselves inexplicably drawn to the ashram, readers are introduced to a tapestry of contemporary society. Each character represents a different facet of modern life, re ecting the universal quest for meaning, purpose, and connection. Within the ashram's walls, the characters are immersed in the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva, the deity of creation and destruction. The spiritual leader imparts wisdom about embracing change, nding balance, and surrendering to the ebb and ow of life. Through this exploration of mysticism, readers are reminded of the relevance of these ancient tales in today's world. Journeying further, the characters delve into the stories of Lord Vishnu's divine avatars, such as Rama and Krishna. Lessons of duty, righteousness, and devotion are learned, providing guidance for the characters' own lives and offering insights into the complexities of human existence. The power of the divine feminine is also explored, as the characters encounter Goddess Durga, Kali, Lakshmi, Sita, and Radha. The women of the ashram nd empowerment, inner strength, and self-discovery through these archetypes, highlighting the importance of embracing one's true nature and embracing the divine feminine energy within. Interwoven with the characters' personal stories are the narratives of the deities, emphasizing the connection between individual paths and the grand tapestry of Sanatan Dharma. The threads of destiny intertwine, revealing the intricate and interconnected nature of life.

Annotation. The article explores the social role of playback theatre as a unique form of contemporary interactive art. It highlights the historical and conceptual connections of playback theatre with improvisational (spontaneity) theatre, psychodrama, art therapy, other social practices, and areas of psychology, emphasizing their influence on the goals, objectives, and organization of playback theatre events. The social-therapeutic vector of playback theatre is initially considered from three perspectives: 1) the unique psychological atmosphere of playback theatre events, characterized by the combination of four values (phenomena): play, immersion, unity, and freedom; 2) applied use for socio-psychological support: indirect assistance through the activation of community work, enhancement of individual communicative resources, etc.; 3) artistic features of contemporary theatre: performativity (with its interactivity), participatory nature (with improvisation and partial immersiveness), and sometimes ritualization. The social significance of playback theatre is substantiated primarily by its ability to create a space for the release and processing of emotions, support for marginalized groups, and the development of empathy and critical thinking. The article demonstrates that playback theatre performance promotes social self-reflection, modeling of complex social processes, and the transmission of intergenerational experience through the exchange of narratives and socially significant rituals. The prospects for the practical use of playback theatre as a tool for socio-psychological support or accompaniment (assistance), especially in times of social crises, are outlined, and the need for further research into its social-therapeutic vector is emphasized.
Keywords: Playback theatre, playback theatre action (event), personality, social-therapeutic vector, interactive art, performance, psychodrama, art therapy, socio-psychological support (assistance), performativity, participation, immersiveness, group dynamics, psychological atmosphere, emotional support, narrative, ritual, social self-reflection, marginalized groups, empathy, critical thinking.

[Vetted Article] For the first time in scholarly literature, I introduce the concept of “sticky colonialism” to explain the phenomenon of a condition where colonial frameworks, categories, and hierarchies remain adhered to the political and cultural fabric of a region, long after the formal exit of colonial powers. Sticky colonialism is not the same as neo-colonialism or internal colonization; it is a more subtle, adhesive force — one that clings to institutions, policies, identities, and imaginations. In fact, Veracini while discussing settler colonialism as a unique form of colonial rule has dealt at length on why decolonization in settler colonial situations is very difficult. It is particularly useful in settler colonial contexts, where decolonization is rarely complete and often structurally impossible, as scholars such as Lorenzo Veracini, Mahmood Mamdani, and Patrick Wolfe have shown. I extend that same argument with sticky colonialism to regions such as Assam in India's North East which is not settler colonial but exhibit characteristics of a settler state. This makes the concept of Sticky Colonialism very interesting and relevant and fills a knowledge gap.

At 2:00 a.m. Tehran time on June 22, the Fordow nuclear facility vanished under a joint barrage of American B-2 bombers and Israeli Jericho missiles. The Natanz and Isfahan enrichment sites followed shortly after. President Donald Trump, newly returned to the White House, had officially committed the United States to a new Middle East military campaign. This, from the man who won re-election under the familiar slogan "Make America Great Again." The 2025 version of MAGA had once again promised national renewal-jobs, manufacturing, lower inflation, and immigration controls. In his first months back in office, Trump's administration pursued these goals through tighter border enforcement, a fresh round of tariffs on Chinese and Mexican goods, and moves to overhaul domestic crime legislation. He had even told Fox Business in April that "the days of wasting American treasure on foreign wars are over." Yet here we are. Not six months into his second term, Trump has ignited a regional conflict by joining Israel in airstrikes on Iranian nuclear infrastructure. If this seems like a betrayal of the domestic-first MAGA philosophy, that's because it is. And the rationale lies not just in geopolitics, but in the psychology of a president shaped by ego, pressure, and the pursuit of legacy.

This chapter compares the ways several classroom teachers, in economically marginalized urban contexts in different countries, endeavored to foster peaceful, democratic social relations across relevant social differences and inequalities, primarily through teaching values. The settings were regular public schools, in three countries not war-torn but suffering severe local violence. In Bangladesh, participating teachers taught Islamic moral precepts-for instance, to treat women respectfully and materially aid the poor-and a national enmity narrative in relation to Pakistan. In Mexico, the teachers taught abstract values linked to interpersonal behavior-such as respect, honesty, and solidarity-and a national narrative valorizing blended indigenous and European origins. In Canada, the teachers taught multicultural awareness and individual character development, narrating a peaceful nation of immigrants. Within each context, most teachers' enacted curriculum presented values unidimensionally, emphasizing compliant tolerance. However, some teaching connected these social cohesion values with broader democratic justice foundations for sustainable peace, illustrating alternative (narrow or broad-based) approaches to values education for building peace.

The number and activities of non-state armed groups (NSAGs) have recently grown in spread and scale in Nigeria. This paper examines the implications of the activities of non-state armed groups (NSAGs) for the conduct of 2023 general elections in Nigeria across the three stages of the electoral cycle-the preelection period, the election period, and the post-election period. It profiled these groups and posits that their motivations, presence and operations increased the risk of violence and insecurity during election days. The paper argues that desperate politicians incentivize such NSAGs to cause violence in opposition's stronghold as a veritable strategy of voter suppression, discontinuation, postponement or inconclusive elections. It proffers actionable recommendations that should form part of a robust, comprehensive security plan to deal with the risks posed to future elections by NSAGs in Nigeria.
