This article introduces the concept and practice of transmethodologies (TMs) as a research frame that challenges the ways in which methodologies act as borders that create epistemological and ontological insides and outsides. TMs allow shifting the frame of inquiry from methodological borders, which impose disciplinary truths and hinder the permeability of knowledge across paradigms, to ontoepistemological boundaries in which knowledge making is performative and agentic. Based mostly on Deleuze, Barad and border and decolonial theories, this article describes the main theoretical prompts that form the bases of a transmethodological sensibility in qualitative inquiry: methodological performativity and agency, plan/e of immanence, differences and representations, nepantlas, ontoepistemological becomings, decolonial border thinking, rhizomes and (de)territorialization. To show the potential benefits that may derive from transcending dominant methodological borders of qualitative research, these concepts are applied to the case of family transnationality. For transnational families and those working with them, TMs open up new possibilities for knowledge and becoming by challenging set ontological and epistemological borders, moving the inquiry from representation to the critical analysis of the process in which practices, actors, and phenomena come into being as an ontoepistemological assemblage.

This paper examines the relationship between philosophical phenomenology and its application in qualitative educational research, with a specific focus on Edwin Creely's 2018 article, "Understanding Things from Within". This analysis accomplishes two goals. First, I engage directly with Creely's text to present a more careful interpretation of Husserl's phenomenology and its potential role in qualitative research. In doing so, I identify key errors in Creely's reading of Husserl, mistakes in his methodological application, and shortcomings of his empirical findings. Second, I situate Creely's misapplication within a broader discussion of why misinterpretations of Husserl's phenomenology persist in qualitative education research. By using Creely as a case study, I identify underlying reasons for common errors in the application of Husserl's methods and core concepts. I conclude by pointing to a more viable approach that avoids the methodological and conceptual pitfalls frequently found in Creely's work and similar studies.

One of the key life skills advocated by the World Health Organization (1999) to be incorporated into any curriculum is 'creativity'. With the advent of the notion of Applied ELT , which considers ELT as an independent discipline now able to contribute to and enrich other domains of knowledge, the idea of life skills education was soon imported into the field of English language teaching. In this connection, it seems that figuring out ways to improve life skills, say, creativity in language learners should be given well-deserved attention. Be that as it may, this paper explores whether and to what extent reading and writing activities can provide abundant opportunities for creative ideas to flourish. Specifically, this study explored the extent to which extensive practice in academic and personal reading and/or writing would be related to high creative thinking. For this purpose, a sample of 300 intermediate EFL learners in Iran participated in this study by filling out a self-report questionnaire and completing the Abbreviated Torrance Test for Adults (ATTA). The questionnaire inquires about the total courses taken in reading and writing as well as the total hours spent on reading and writing in both L1 and L2. The results revealed that learners who spent more time on reading and writing had a significantly better performance on the creativity test. That is, creative thinking scores (fluency, originality, elaboration, flexibility, and the Creativity Index) showed significant correlations with the amount of time spent on reading and writing.

The study reported in this paper seeks to examine the relationship between pre-service EFL teachers' epistemological beliefs and their conceptions of teaching and learning. A questionnaire survey was conducted. To this end, two scales (i.e. the Teaching and Learning Conceptions Questionnaire and the Epistemological Beliefs Scale) developed by Chan and Elliott (2004) were administered to 92 Iranian pre-service EFL teachers to examine their epistemological beliefs as well as conceptions of teaching and learning. The findings of this study revealed that pre-service English teachers in Iran tended to endorse, from among the four categories of epistemological beliefs, the innate/fixed ability and certainty knowledge. Also, most of the participants tended to endorse traditional conceptions about language teaching and learning which was considered to be reminiscent of the modern era of English language teaching. Furthermore, the findings demonstrated significant positive relationships between traditional teaching/learning conceptions and some categories of epistemological beliefs such as 'innate/fixed ability' and 'certainty knowledge'. Moreover, the results indicated significant correlations between constructivist conceptions and pre-service teachers' 'learning effort/process' beliefs. Finally, certain implications for the English education of Iran were discussed in the context of postmodernism in English language teaching.

BackgroundBody image disturbance and alexithymia are two core aspects of Eating Disorders (EDs). However, standard treatments for EDs do not include specific techniques to approach these issues on a bodily level. This pilot study evaluated the effects of a Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) intervention on body image and alexithymia in patients with EDs, and also explored their experience of the therapeutic process.Method14 patients with EDs were recruited from a private clinic. Seven were assigned via quasi-randomization to the DMT group and the others (n= 5) continued their treatment as usual. The length of the intervention was 14 weeks. All participants completed the Multidimensional Body Self Relations Questionnaire (MBSRQ) and the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) at the beginning and at the end of the intervention. Additionally, the DMT group wrote reflective diaries about their experience at the end of each session, which were analyzed using qualitative methods.ResultsBetween the ...

IntroductionAutism is a neurodevelopmental condition clinically defined by impairments in communication and social interaction, which is characterized by repetitive and stereotyped restricted patterns of behavior, interests and activities (American Psychiatric Association, 2000 in Bradley, Caldwell and Underwood (2014). In many children who have autism spectrum disorders (ASD), motor and sensory difficulties are observed (Baranek, 2002). Several studies have also reported changes in the motor development profile of these children, which contribute to a lower physical fitness (Loh et al., 2007; Ozonoff et al., 2008; Pan, 2009; Fournier, Hass, Naik, Loadha, and Cauraugh, 2010).The strategies for the treatment of ASD focus primarily on cognitive stimulation, social and language development and also on the elimination of stereotyped movements (Koring et al., 2010; Sowa and Meulenbroek, 2012). Physical activity plays an important role in the quality of life of these individuals and has b...

This commentary repositions the pilot study as a vital, yet often neglected, component of qualitative research. Traditionally seen as a preparatory step, piloting is reconceptualized here as a generative phase that enhances methodological rigor, ethical reflexivity, and contextual responsiveness. Drawing on a wide range of interdisciplinary literature, the paper explores the multiple roles of pilot studiesfrom testing research instruments to surfacing ethical dilemmas and shaping researcher positionality. A key focus is the debated issue of whether pilot data should be included in final analysis, with guidance offered based on methodological alignment, ethical consistency, and analytic coherence. The commentary also reflects on the ethical implications of integrating AI-assisted tools during piloting. Emphasizing transparency and trustworthiness, the article calls for greater scholarly attention to piloting as a site of knowledge production. It offers practical insights for novice and experienced researchers seeking to strengthen the credibility of their qualitative research.

This paper aims to discuss about interview as data gathering method for qualitative research particularly ethnographic research considering different challenges and issues. Analysis of the related document, review of the literature and my field experiences as research students conducting interviews are the key basis of the information for this paper. The discussion has been organized under nine sub topics including introduction, interview as informal conversation, interview as contextualized knowledge generation, interview as gaining insight into key issues, interview as interaction, interview as social and cultural performance, interview typologies, issues and challenges and conclusion and way forward. Study result reveals that interview is the popular method for ethnographic research to obtain credible and trustworthy data if the interviewer is more competent to employ data generating tool properly and effectively. Similarly, informal conversational and interactive interview to ge...

Qualitative research is a process of storytelling, but whose story are we telling and from what perspective? We examine Kenneth Pike’s work on emic and etic approaches to qualitative inquiry and explore how, over time, etic has come to refer to settler-colonial research while emic is seen as relating to Othered life-worlds outside academia. Researchers from marginalized communities often struggle to occupy the etic space of the academy and the emic space of their research. Using concepts of edgewalking and edgework, we argue that another space is available at the edge between emic and etic where transformative research can occur.

More than eight hundred eight thousand Americans are affected by end-stage renal failure (ESRD); out of them, 31% have undergone a kidney transplant. Even though this transplantation comes with potential risk factors, there is a significant chance that this transplant will save the patient's life. There are legitimate benefits, however, there are concerns over the quality of life following the transplant. The main aim of the study is to find if the quality of life is affected post transplantation. If so to how much extend it is affected? Using keyword and Medical Subject Heading (Mesh) combinations five databases that were screened. The keywords used are kidney transplantation, renal transplant, quality of life, well-being. The articles were put through a rigorous screening and quality assessment process. This review is based on papers published within the last ten years, from 2013 to 2023, in English. We examined human study on kidney transplant recipients who had poor quality of life (QoL) post transplantation. This systematic review includes a total of 14 papers. This systematic review strongly concludes that in post renal transplantation patients' quality of life is compromised in both psychological and economical aspect. Consequently, further study on this crucial topic is required.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that begins to emerge in childhood. This disorder is caused by an impaired prefrontal cortex (PFC) development that affects executive functions, particularly in inhibition, resulting in loss of cognitive and behavior control. This research aims to investigate the difference between inhibition in ADHD and non-ADHD children ages 6-12 years old and between the three subtypes of ADHD. Subjects in this study were children with ADHD (N=34) which consists of the inattentive type (N=14), hyperactive-impulsive type (N=9), and combination type (N=11), as well as non-ADHD children (N=34). This research used the causal-comparative method. The instrument which was utilized in this study is The Stroop Color and Word test to measure inhibition. Results of this research showed that there are differences in inhibition between ADHD and non-ADHD children and between age 6-9 years and 10-12 years old children. However, there is no difference of inhibition between three subtypes of ADHD.

This paper provides an original perspective on the lived experiences of STEM doctoral students concerning their interactions with Principal Investigators, revealing insights into the often-overlooked dynamics of these relationships. While doctoral supervision is commonly seen as a nurturing process, our qualitative research exposes it as a space of conflict, control, and, at its worst, a kind of psychological hell. These findings dismantle the comforting narrative of mentorship, revealing a darker, more unsettling reality at the heart of academia; the supervisory relationship is a warzone of identity, where students are often reshaped into versions of themselves that they no longer recognize in three distinct ways. In the first way, the 'surveilled self', students are subject to a relentless sense of observation, creating a defensive, hyper-vigilant state. Second, in the 'overwritten self', students' own identities are obliterated, subsumed by their supervisors' demands and expectations until they can no longer recognize themselves. Finally, the 'censored self' embodies a profound silencing, where students suppress their authentic thoughts and emotions. We arrived at these insights by employing a novel methodological approach, Phenomenologically Grounded Qualitative Research (PGQR), which applies philosophical phenomenology to reveal the existential pressures shaping student identity. By focusing on underlying structures of consciousness, PGQR allowed us to capture the hidden, intense dimensions of conflict and dependency within supervisory relationships, offering a depth of understanding that traditional qualitative methods might overlook.

Thematic analysis (TA) is one of the most widely utilized methods for analyzing qualitative data, offering a structured yet flexible framework for identifying, analyzing, and interpreting patterns of meaning within datasets. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of Braun and Clarke's six-phase thematic analysis framework, which includes (1) familiarization with data, (2) generating initial codes, (3) searching for themes, (4) reviewing themes, (5) defining and naming themes, and (6) writing the report. Additionally, it presents a 16-item checklist to ensure adherence to the established steps of thematic analysis, enhancing the rigor and reliability of the study. Each phase is explored in-depth, highlighting its purpose, key activities, reflexive considerations, challenges, and significance. Emphasis is placed on the iterative and reflexive nature of TA, where researchers actively engage with data and acknowledge their theoretical positioning and biases throughout the process. Challenges such as data overwhelm, coding inconsistencies, and balancing thematic depth and breadth are addressed, alongside practical strategies for overcoming these obstacles. The importance of transparency, reflexivity, and methodological rigor is underscored as central to producing trustworthy and insightful qualitative research. This article serves as both an academic reference and a practical guide for researchers aiming to apply thematic analysis effectively, ensuring that their findings are presented in a coherent, compelling, and analytically sound manner.

Teachers play an important role in providing training and upbringing services for the educational community. However, burnout is rampant among teachers in professional contexts. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the factors that lead to burnout and to investigate approaches to reduce the impact of these factors on teachers' burnout levels. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between burnout and foreign language teachers' commitment to teaching service in Iran Language Institutes. In this study, we used observation, semi-structured interviews and Maslach burnout questionnaire (MBI), and Meyer and Allen's organizational and job commitment questionnaire (OOC) to assess the variance of teacher burnout and its relationship with teachers' commitment. English language teachers (N = 100) in Mazandaran province were invited to participate in this study. Data analysis showed that there was a negative relationship between teacher burnout and their commitment to teaching English. Descriptive statistics show that male teachers have more burnout than female teachers. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was performed for causal analysis. The concepts of organizational and job commitment and educational policy and burnout research were discussed. Accordingly, educational policymakers are suggested to provide programs to familiarize teachers with the syndrome and help them reduce burnout, which maximizes their performance in the classroom.

Adolescence is a transition phase filled with doubt and instability. During these transitions, some obstacles are often perceived as more intense and frequently cause adolescents to feel sad. This study was aimed to identify how male and female adolescents perceived sadness. A total number of 461 students, 273 females and 188 males, all of whom were high school students in Yogyakarta, completed an open-ended questionnaire, developed by . The data was categorized, open-coded, axial-coded, and later cross-tabulated. Results demonstrated that females perceive negative moments as a life-lesson (30.4%), self reflection (13.9%), disruption (13.6%), life's obstacles (8.1%), motivation (6.6%), memorable moments (6.6%), and lastly as a spiritual-lesson (2.6%). While males view sadness as a life lesson (22.9%), disruption (15.4%), self-reflection (11.2%), motivation (9.6%), memorable moments (5.9%), life's obstacles (5.3%), and lastly as a spiritual lesson (3.2%). This result was later divided into two types of perception, the positive approach, containing life lesson, self-reflection, motivation, and spiritual lesson, and the negative approach, which are sadness as disruption, memorable moments, and life's obstacles. This study concludes that both Indonesian male and female adolescent mainly took a positive perception on sadness as a life lesson, with only 27% of them viewing it as negative.

Studies have investigated various antecedents of suicidal ideation in developed world, little is still known about suicidal ideation among adolescents in a developing country like Nigeria. Therefore, the study investigated the role of self-efficacy, life frustration, quality of life and meaning in life on suicidal ideation among adolescents. Correlational design was utilized, three hundred and eighty five (385) respondents were selected using simple random sampling technique (Mean= 17.14 yrs, SD = 1.35). Results of the study revealed significant negative relationship between self-efficacy and suicidal ideation, positive relationship between life frustration and suicidal ideation, negative relationship between quality of health and suicidal ideation, negative association between meaning in life and suicidal ideation. Finally, there was significant joint prediction of self-efficacy, life frustration, quality of health and meaning in life on suicidal ideation. Based on the findings of the study, it is, therefore, recommended that psychologists should develop psychological intervention tailored toward improving and enhancing self-efficacy, life frustration, quality of health, and meaning in life which invariably will help eradicate suicidal ideation among adolescents.

In order to study the combining ability and gene action for the yield and specific traits related to the grain quality of the genotypes of seven bread wheat (SK94, SK 95, Side 12, Side14, Giemiza 7, Giemiza 9, and Al-Fayyad), Half diallel crosses was performed between them to obtain (21) single crosses. Individually the hybrids were planted along with the parental lines in three replicates in randomized complete block design. Data for plant yield, protein ratio, wet gluten ratio, and dry gluten ratio were measured. Analysis of variance showed significant differences among genotypes for all the evaluated traits. Parent Side 12 was distinguished by its general combining ability the traits of a plant yield, protein ratio, and wet gluten ratio, while the hybrid SK 95 x Side 12 was distinguished by a special combining ability all traits. The ratio between the components of the variance of general combining ability to the variance of specific combining ability was less than one for all traits, and this is evidence of the effect of dominance variances on traits. Genetic variance was greater than environmental variance for all traits. Also, the dominance variance was greater than additive variance for all traits. The broad sense heritability rate was high for all traits, while the narrow sense heritability rate was medium for the plant yield trait and low for the other traits. The expected genetic advance was low in all traits. Therefore, selection is not useful, and it is possible to benefit from heterosis breeding method and selection in subsequent generations.

The application to rational numbers of the procedures and intuitions proper of natural numbers is known as Natural Number Bias. Research on the cognitive foundations of this bias suggests that it stems not from a lack of understanding of rational numbers, but from the way the human mind represents them. In this work, we presented a fraction comparison questionnaire to 502 school children from 5 th to 7 th grade to investigate if the Natural Number Bias succeeds in explaining their error patterns. About 25% of children responded in a way perfectly consistent with the Bias, but good students committed many errors in items that the Bias predicts to be easy. We propose an explanation based on comparison strategies and wrong generalizations of a common remark used for teaching fraction magnitude.

Within recent years, there has been an increasing call for qualitative research in cross-cultural psychology. Despite this general openness, there seems to be some confusion about how to evaluate the quality of such research. This has been partly due to the heterogeneity of the field and the epistemological underpinnings of qualitative research that do not allow for standard criteria of rigor as in the traditional psychological research. Nevertheless, there is an emerging canon of recognized standards of good practice in qualitative research which the present paper will briefly discuss. The paper aims at motivating cross-cultural psychologists to produce high quality qualitative research that will contribute to the further advancement of the field.

An attempt has been made to examine the effect of gender and academic competence on the self-concept of adolescents. The study adopted a 2 (academically competent versus academically less-competent adolescents) × 2 (boys versus girls) factorial design. In the present study, two hundred forty adolescents (120 academically competent adolescents securing 80% or more marks and 120 academically less-competent adolescents securing 50% or fewer marks) are randomly sampled from different urban colleges of Odisha. In each group of 120 adolescents, there are 60 boys and 60 girls. All the subjects are first year graduate students. The participants of all the four groups are compared with respect to their self-concept. The result indicated that academically competent adolescents have higher physical, moral, personal, family, social and overall self-concept than less-competent ones. The strength of association between personal self-concept and overall self-concept in boys is higher than the association found in girls. Similarly, the strength of association between physical self-concept and overall self-concept, as well as social self-concept and overall self-concept is higher in girls than that of the boys.

Therapist adherence has been shown to contribute to the effectiveness of treatment interventions. The role in a patient's decision to drop out of treatment, however, is unknown. This study investigates whether therapist adherence affects clinical outcome and the risk for dropout. Patients diagnosed with panic disorder with agoraphobia (N = 265) were treated in one of two CBT variations: with (T+) and without (T-) explicit therapist-guided exposure. Significant associations between lower levels of adherence and symptomatic improvement were observed in treatment completers in the T-condition and dropouts in T+ condition suggesting that adherence-outcome relations are potentially contributed by patient and treatment characteristics. Moreover, our results propose that patient related difficulties with exposure procedures may lead to lower adherence and dropout.

The construct of graduate employability (GE) has received considerable attention from researchers and practitioners because of its crucial role in national economic agendas. Previous research is mixed in terms of the association between psychological capital (PsyCap) and GE. This represents a significant theoretical gap in the literature. To address this knowledge gap and better understand the relationship, we proposed grit as the potential "moderator" between PsyCap and GE. By incorporating grit as moderator, this paper aims to contribute to concept and theory development in the field of educational management. The paper provides valuable insights that support the notion that PsyCap and grit acquisition enhance GE.

Executive Functions (EFs) correspond to a general construct of cognitive abilities aimed at optimizing problem-solving and regulating behaviour effectively and efficiently. The current consensus model of EFs comprises three components: working memory, inhibitory control and cognitive flexibility. The present study sought to evaluate differences in task performance assessing EFs when subjects are confronted with a social stress paradigm related to the 'white coat phenomenon'. It involved 40 Chilean university students, mean age 21.8 years, who were randomly assigned to one of two conditions: in the presence of social stress (treatment) or in the absence of social stress (control). The results showed a partial impact of the white coat phenomenon, with statistically significant differences at p ≤ .05, when comparing both conditions in relation to the tasks that evaluated inhibitory control and cognitive flexibility, with both tasks presenting a higher speed of response in the experimental condition of social stress, with the accuracy of the responses being unaffected.

Game Intelligence (GI) is promoted by coaches, pundits and commentators as a key element underpinning high level performance in sport. There is however a limited amount of research in GI in sport, and less in Rugby Union (RU). The purpose of this study, therefore, was to explore rugby coaches’ understanding of GI, to establish its key components and to propose a working definition for GI in Rugby Union. Rugby Union coaches (n= 175) completed an online survey which contained a combination of open and closed questions. Participants were asked for their views about GI, with Reflexive Thematic Analysis (RTA) used to interpret their qualitative responses. Consequently, twelve sub-themes and four major themes were constructed that described the various facets of GI in Rugby Union, these being: situational awareness, effective decision-making, knowledge and understanding, and the ability to influence the game. Data also identifies that the development of player GI is seen as a joint responsibility between player and coach. This study is original in that it explores coaches’ understanding of GI, then proposes a conceptual model for GI, and further, offers a definition for GI in Rugby Union. It is hoped that this will aid further discussion and research into this crucial but under-developed area of coach education.

Marital stability is when a couple in a marriage remains together instead of separating or divorcing. Communication is very essential in stabilizing marriage, communicating effectively enables the couple to resolve conflicts amicably. This study investigated communication styles as a correlate of marital stability among married adults in Kwara State, Nigeria. The research design adopted for this study was a descriptive survey of correlational type. The population comprised all married adults in Kwara State estimated at 779,996. A multi-stage stabilising sampling technique was used to select 400 married adults from the three senatorial districts of Kwara State. Communication Styles Scale (CSS) and Marital Stability Scale (MSS) were the instruments used to gather data for the study. Two research questions were raised and answered in the study, while three null hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The data obtained were analysed using percentages, Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation and Three Way Analysis of Variance. The result showed that married adults in Kwara State adopted assertive and passive communication styles and demonstrated high marital stability index. It was found that communication styles and marital stability had no significant relationship with gender, age and length of years in marriage. Based on these findings, it was recommended, among others, that married adults need to improve on their level of communication to be able to resolve family issues that may arise without involving the third party.

This article is about the phenomenon of power and its relationship to human agency. Power is a complex phenomenon. It can be both harmful and helpful; divisive and unifying; tangible or almost spherically relational. This article grapples with this complexity. Not as a problem to be fixed or simply a point worth repeating, but as a quality that needs to be explored, since it holds valuable contributions to our understanding of human agency and current challenges to it. On a foundational level, power pertains to agency, in the sense that power relates to a capacity for action that is also constitutive of agency. To explore the nature of power is therefore, to some extent, to explore the conditions of human agency. This seems particularly relevant today since our agency is threatened by a number of social crises: rapid climate change, and a diminishing trust in democracy, science, and the rule of law. In this article I relate these problems to insufficiencies in our understanding of the phenomenon of power, not least collective powers we have long relied upon when dealing with agentic challenges. Furthermore, I argue that psychology has a key role to play in this drama. Not because these problems are psychological by nature, but because they relate to a failure of psychology to relate human agency to social and political power in a sufficient way.

Teachers' self-regulation (SR), which improves teaching practices, has not received due attention from EFL researchers. This mixed-methods study aimed to examine the SR strategies and teaching effectiveness of English language teachers in Iranian universities and institutes located in three Iranian cities. The first sample of this study comprised 172 EFL teachers (128 males and 44 females) from different socioeconomic backgrounds. Their ages ranged from 23 to 55 years old. The majority of them majored in the different branches of English-English literature (5 BAs, 30 MAs, 10 PhDs), English teaching (10 BAs, 50 MAs,16 PhDs), and English translation (7 BAs, 28 MAs, 16 PhDs). On the other hand, the second sample comprised 153 EFL learners, who were the students of the participating teachers (49 males and 104 females). The age range varied from 14 to 35, and they came from different socioeconomic backgrounds. A study was conducted Teachers completed a Teacher Self-Regulation Scale (TSRS) questionnaire to declare the types and frequency of SR strategies they used while the participating students completed the Characteristic of Successful Iranian EFL Teachers (CSIET) questionnaire, which included ten questionnaire items. According to the quantitative data analysis, SR strategies and teaching effectiveness were negatively correlated. Moreover, 20 EFL teachers were interviewed to determine their awareness of their teaching effectiveness. The study indicates that teachers were not familiar with SR strategies, which can negatively impact their teaching effectiveness. The findings of the study may have insights for teacher educators, administrators, and university teachers, highlighting the role of SR in EFL teaching effectiveness.

Empirical research documents that in some cases psychosocial factors conquer greater if not equal risk of IHD. This study was conducted to infer the psychosocial factors associated with the risk of IHD in women. Case control study design was utilized to explore the association of psychosocial factors with the risk of IHD in women aged 35 to 55 years. A sample of 71 women cases diagnosed with IHD and 142 age and gender matched community controls were recruited for this purpose. Binary logistic regression analyses was conducted to ascertain the association of proposed psychosocial factors with the risk of IHD. The values of the coefficients revealed that a unit increase in score of trait anger is associated with increase in the odds of IHD by a factor of 1.21 (95 % CI 1.04 and 1.42). A unit increase in optimism score is associated with decrease in the odds of IHD by a factor of 0.67 (95% CI 0.53 and 0.83). The values of the coefficients reveal that each unit increase in score of social support is associated with decrease in odds of IHD by a factor of 0.91 (95% CI 0.89 and 0.95). The study highlights that women aged 35 to 55 years are protected against the risk of IHD, and trait anger is the only risk factor of IHD. Furthermore trait anger is modifiable and can lay directions for designing preventive cardiac interventions.
