In this research Piers-Harris Self Consept Scale (1964) is used to measure students self-esteem; Topukçu’s Assertiveness İnventory (1982) is used to meause students levels of assertiveness and finally personal information form that prepared by the researcher is used for demographic features. Piers-Harris Self-Consept Scale consists of 80 items and has 6 sub-dimensions. These sub-dimensions are Happiness-Satisfaction, Anxiety, Popularity-Social Appreciation-Being Appreciated, Behaviour and Obeying-Conformity, Physical Appearance, İntellectual and School Status. Topukçu’s Assertiveness İnventory (1982) consists of 45 items and sub-dimensions are unavailable.
The data obtained from the study, analyzed and interpreted using SPSS 15.0 software. During the research, percentages and frequency distribution of demographic variables are found, data normalityis inspected, parametric 7
and non-parametric analysis techniques have been used accordingly. In the research, Kruskal Wallis-H test was used-one of the non-parametric analysis tecniques; Mann Whitney U test was applied in order to determine the source of the differences in the event that difference is meaningful. However, Mann Whitney U test was applied to determine differences of diversity of groups. In the research, One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) parametric analysis technique was used to determine the significance of differences in case due to the differences in the groups to which the post-hoc LSD and Tamhane’s T2 test techniques are parametric analysis was used to determine the differences and Pearson Product Moment Correlation analysis technique was used to determine the relationships between groups. When findings of the study are evaluated, at the end of Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis that applied to determine the relationship between self (self-consept) scale sub-dimensions and Assertiveness İnventory Scale; a positively correlated relationship was found between Self (self-consept) Scale of happiness and satisfaction, anxiety, popularity(social acclaim), conformity (behaviour and compliance), physical appearence, mental status and school subscale scores, total scores and assertiveness scale. In addition, Self(self-consept) Scale total scores and Assertiveness Scale total scores are Positively correlated.
