The ACS National Awards program is designed to encourage the advancement of chemistry in all its branches, to support research in chemical science and in industry, and to promote the careers of chemical scientists.

2024 National Awards Hybrid Ceremony

The 2024 National Awards Banquet and Ceremony, including the 2024 Priestley Medal Address by Dr. Carolyn Bertozzi, took place on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in conjunction with ACS Spring 2024 in New Orleans, LA as a hybrid event.

2024 Priestley Medalist Carolyn Bertozzi

Carolyn Bertozzi, the Anne and Robert Bass professor of chemistry at Stanford University and the Baker Family Director of Stanford’s interdisciplinary institute Sarafan ChEM-H, has been named the recipient of the 2024 Priestley Medal, the American Chemical Society’s highest honor. She is being recognized for her work on bioorthogonal chemistry and the glycobiology of cancer, tuberculosis, and other diseases, as well as for her mentoring, her big-picture strategic thinking, and for her committment to advocacy for inclusion and diversity.
