This is a fun and intriguing YA paranormal thriller with an insightful, entertaining, and often hilariously descriptive main character/narrator.

The first third of the novel sets up the basic premise of Kali's world, her friends (both living and dead), her crush, and the basic battle between the living souls and the dead ones that becomes the central conflict of the last 2/3 of the story.

There's a lot to like here, story-wise, and Griffith is a skilled writer who puts character first, making the stakes for Kali and her friends real in a sense that it's not just the fate of the living world that's at stake, but also the fate of friendships, families, and first loves hanging in the balance.

An overall fantastic read. Highly recommended.
