Multi Mode Patch Cables; 200-2000 nm; Fiber Type MM; Insertion Loss ≤0.2 dB; Connector Type FC/PC, SC, ST, LC, MU, E2000 For its MMJ series of multi mode (MM) patch cables, OZ Optics produces high-quality fiber optics patch cables using a variety of commercially available connectors and fibers. These patch cables offer low insertion losses, and excellent repeatability. MMJ MM patch cables can be manufactured to any specified length. An array of cable materials is available, including unjacketed fiber, 0.9 mm outside diameter (O.D) loose tube buffer, 3 mm O.D Kevlar reinforced PVC jacketing, 3 mm armored cabling, and 5 mm heavy duty armored cabling as well as 3 mm or 5 mm stainless steel armored cablings. OZ Optics offers a variety of multi mode (MM) fiber types, including telecommunication standard Graded Index (GI) fibers (50/125, 62.5/125 and 100/140 fiber sizes), and step index (SI) fused silica core fibers for high-power applications (10 µm to 1500 µm core sizes). Multi mode fibers are designed to operate well over a wide wavelength range. Their transmission range depends on the dopants used. There are low-OH fibers, which are optimized to either transmit well from 380 nm to over 1600 nm (IRVIS type), or high-OH fibers that transmit well from 280 nm to 900 nm (UVVIS type). Fibers that work at wavelengths below 280 nm and above 1600 nm are available on request. A large assortment of fiber types is available from stock. OZ Optics also offers custom cabling services for customer-provided fibers. Please contact AMS Technologies for available fiber types. MMJ MM patch cables can be terminated with NTT-FC, SC, AT&T-ST, LC, and SMA connectors, as well as other connector types. FC connectors are highly recommended for both single mode and multi mode use. They offer high precision and repeatability. SMA connectors are used mainly for very large core fibers and high-power applications. FC connectors with Super PC and angle polished (APC) end faces are available to minimize back reflection. Typical back reflection levels are 45 dB for Super PC connectors and 60 dB for APC connectors. For high-power multi mode (MM) patch cables, please refer to OZ Optics’ QMMJ series. PFA Attenuating MM Patch Cables
Multi Mode Patchcords; 440 to 1625 nm; Attenuation 0.5 to 20 dB; Return Loss 50, 60 dB; Power Handling ≤2 W OZ Optics’ PFA series of low cost fixed attenuating multi mode fiber patchcords is ideal for high power applications and can be easily installed into fiber splice enclosures. The Attenuating Fiber Advantage: OZ Optics has recently enhanced its fixed attenuator product line by developing a new technology to precisely attenuate signals in fibers. This patent pending, fully automatable technique allows one to create fixed attenuators within any standard fiber, with low polarization dependent loss (PDL) and high power handling. The resultant attenuating fiber is physically identical in appearance and behaviour to the original fiber, allowing it to be used to build attenuating fiber patchcords. As the process used does not require the manufacture of special fiber, fixed attenuators can be constructed in small batch quantities economically. At the same time the automation aspect of the techniques allows large quantity orders to be manufactured at a reasonable cost. For the FPA attenuating multi mode fiber patchcords to work properly, the light travelling through the fiber must be incoherent and has to excite the fiber modes uniformly. Attenuating fiber is capable of handling up to 2 W of optical power at 1550 nm. The attenuating section is only a couple of millimetres to a couple of centimeters long, depending on the attenuation. The fiber used in OZ attenuators features a double cladding, with an absorbing dopant in the inner cladding layer. This double cladding structure effectively suppresses light scattering into the cladding. Thus the readings will not significantly depend on the application. Attenuating patchcords are available with between 0.5 and 20 dB attenuation, in 0.1 dB increments. Higher attenuation levels and higher resolution attenuation steps are possible. Prototype and custom designs can be made quickly and in small volumes economically. Key Features: New Patented Technique Not Based on Fusion Splice Wide Wavelength Range Low Backreflection Polarization Insensitive Wide Range of Connectors Applications: Optical Power Equalization; CATV, LAN and Telecommunications; Test and Measurement; Channel Balancing for WDM Systems; Receiver Padding; Optical Transmission Systems

QMMJ High Power MM Patch Cables
Multi Mode Patchcords; 200 to 2000 nm; Fiber Type MM High Power; Optional Cooling Fins OZ Optics’ QMMJ series of multi mode fiber optic patchcords is specifically designed for high-power applications. These patchcords feature special high-power multi mode fibers, carefully prepared fiber endfaces and specially designed fiber optic connectors to ensure maximum power handling for your application. In standard connectors the fibers are glued into place, and the fiber is polished flush with the connector ferrule tip. When used with high power lasers, heat generated at the tip of the fiber causes the surrounding epoxy to break down and give off gases. These gases, in turn, burn onto the tip of the fiber, causing catastrophic damage to the fiber and perhaps the entire system. In contrast, OZ Optics’ high-power connectors feature an air-gap design, where the fiber extends into free space by 1.1 to 1.5 mm, providing an epoxy-free region where thermal energy is safely dissipated without burning the surrounding material. OZ Optics offers an adjustable focus feature in both SMA and FC connector designs to allow optimum coupling efficiency, which is critical in high power applications. A unique feature of the adjustable focus connector design is that one can adjust the distance the ferrule and fiber protrudes from the connector housing. The connector also has a built-in residual spring mechanism that allows one to safely connect two fibers together. Our engineers have extensive working knowledge with both continuous output (CW) and pulsed laser applications and can help you select the best system for your application. Please contact AMS Technologies for further assistance. Key Features: Operating Wavelengths 200 to 2000 nm MM Fibers Unique Connector Design for Precise Fiber to Fiber Coupling Minimizes Thermal Damage Able to Withstand Temperatures up to +500 °C Compatible with SMA905 and FC Connectors Different Fiber Endface Finishes Available for Higher Power Applications Stainless Steel Armored Cabling for Maximum Safety High Power Anti-reflection Coatings Available Applications: Laser Marking, Cutting and Welding; Materials Processing; High Power Spectroscopy; Non-linear Optics; Laser Surgery; Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR)
