Argyle High School wins 17th Class 5A UIL Academic Title (original) (raw)
The Argyle High School UIL academic team has done it again, winning their 17th state championship at the Academic State Meet at the University of Texas in Austin! Scoring an impressive 210 points, the team’s outstanding performance reaffirms their status as academic champions.
At the Academic State Meet, the AHS academic teams excelled, earning state championships in Calculator Applications, Accounting, Current Events, and Literary Criticism.
Additionally, individual top point earners and winners included:
Caroline Deffenbaugh - most points in Calculator Applications
Kate Vest - most points in Literary Criticism
Sumaia Thomas - Barbara Jordan Essay Contest winner
Tierney Withrow - 1st place & earned the Top in Texas title in Editorial Writing.
“I am immensely proud of the coaches and students whose dedication led us to this state championship,” said UIL Academics Director Jessica Reynolds, “In a competition where 5A saw the highest scores across all classifications, their tireless hours of studying and practice were crucial in securing victory. Witnessing their unwavering commitment and hard work throughout the year has been inspiring.
