District Prepares for Solar Eclipse Monday, April 8! (original) (raw)

On Monday, April 8, 2024, Argyle ISD and surrounding communities in North Texas will experience a rare celestial event: a total solar eclipse.

The eclipse will begin over Argyle at approximately 12:20 p.m., with the moment of totality starting at 1:40 p.m. AISD students and faculty will use this unique opportunity to study a magnificent celestial phenomenon from their home campuses.

SAFETY
As the district eagerly anticipates this rare educational opportunity, the safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority. Please be aware that students will only be authorized to view the eclipse if they utilize solar viewing glasses that meet international safety standards (ISO 12312-2). Homemade filters or alternative viewing methods will not be permitted, as they may not provide adequate protection.

All campus teachers and staff will closely monitor students during the eclipse to ensure their safety. Parents are encouraged to discuss safety measures with their children and emphasize the importance of eye protection when observing the eclipse. Campuses will communicate plans regarding glasses.
