Taking action for the future
As Arla farmers, we are dependent on nature and recognise our role in relation to climate change. That’s why we are taking steps to develop how we farm and produce dairy for you and your family.
We work together to support ongoing improvements, including actions related to greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity. Want to know more?
Rewarding farmers for climate-related actions
From August 2023, Arla farmers who implement activities related to greenhouse gas emissions can be rewarded through the FarmAhead™ Incentive.
Together with our farmer owners, we have set a target to reduce CO2e emissions from milk and whey by 30.3 per cent by 2030. Rewarding farmers for implementing these activities is part of our approach to supporting actions on farm.
In total, up to 500 million euro is allocated to support payments to Arla farmers for activities included in the model, based on the current milk pool.
Committed to limiting global warming to 1.5°C
In December 2021, we doubled our climate target for operations including owned logistics from 30 to 63 per cent. This target has been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative as consistent with reductions required in scopes 1 and 2 to keep global warming to 1.5°C. The most ambitious goal of the Paris Agreement.
