Asian Law Caucus Issues (original) (raw)
We need economic security, immigrant justice, and an inclusive democracy for all of our communities to thrive.
Our Issues
Economic Security
We envision a world that nurtures the economic well-being of all working people and tenants, from good jobs to safe, affordable housing.
Housing Rights
We help San Francisco tenants enforce their legal rights and stay in their homes by defending them against eviction, discrimination, and harassment.
Workers' Rights
We work with low-wage immigrant workers to address discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour problems, unemployment insurance benefits, workplace safety, and other critical issues.
Immigrant Justice
We work at the intersection of the U.S. criminal legal and immigration systems to uphold our values and keep families and communities together.
Community Safety
We aim to diminish societal reliance on carceral systems – police, jails, prisons, ICE detention, surveillance, and supervision – in ways that strengthen low-income and immigrant API communities.
Immigrant Rights
We represent and advocate for low-income immigrants facing deportation due to criminal convictions - doing everything in our power to help them return home to their families and communities.
Inclusive Democracy
We pursue the promise of democracy for all, no matter where we’re from, what language we speak, or how we pray.
National Security & Civil Rights
We defend immigrant communities’ constitutional freedoms and liberties, particularly Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, and South Asian communities harmed by unjust national security policies.
Voting Rights
We fight for the rights of Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, immigrants, and people with limited English proficiency to fully and actively participate in U.S. democracy.
