Perched on the tip of the famous Causeway Coastal Route, sits Ballygally Castle, a stunning 17th Century Castle which overlooks the golden sands of Ballygally Bay and has uninterrupted views across the Irish Sea.

Happy Halloween 🎃👻
It wouldn`t be Halloween without a ghost story, and what better tale than the one of Ballygally Castle`s resident ghost, Lady Isobella Shaw, wife of Lord James Shaw who built the castle in 1625 ✨
Legend has it that Lord Shaw locked up his wife Isabella in the highest turret of the castle and left her there to starve after she failed to produce a male heir. She had given birth to a baby girl, and after being separated from her daughter for so long and desperate to see her. She tryed to escape and sadly fell to her death from the tower window!
Lady Isabella`s ghost is reputed to be a "friendly" spirit who walks the corridors of the old castle. Over the years many guests have reported strange experiences and have felt a presence in their rooms! There are also endless stories of unexplained noises in the night and an eerie green mist over the castle!
At Ballygally Castle we are very proud of our permanent ghost resident and have even dedicated a bedroom to her, "The Ghost Room" in one of the turrets in the oldest part of the castle.
