Ross County 0-3 Inverness CT (original) (raw)
Inverness continued their bid to reach the top three of the Premiership with a comfortable win away to Ross County in Dingwall.
David Raven's close-range shot opened the scoring early on after good work by Aaron Doran.
Billy McKay doubled the lead five minutes from the interval with a left-footed strike.
The third arrived on the break when Ross Draper fed Marley Watkins, who rolled the ball into the corner.
Defeat drops Ross County below Partick Thistle into tenth place on goal difference, while Inverness sit three behind Motherwell and with a game in hand.
County looked a shadow of the side that beat their local rivals on New Year's Day and fell behind in the opening stages.
Aaron Doran outpaced Brian McLean on the left and, when Evangelos Ikonomou attempted to clear his cross at the back post, Raven forced the ball over the line.
At the other end, Richie Brittain's free-kick resulted in an aerial battle in the box before McLean nodded wide of Dean Brill's right-hand post.
County had claims for a penalty turned down when Jordan Slew's shot inside the box appeared to be handled by Gary Warren but referee Calum Murray was having none of it.
Full-back Graeme Shinnie charged forward for Inverness and sent an angled drive just past the post.
County were enjoying their fair share of pressure without doing too much with it and they were caught out again before half-time.
Shinnie won the ball off Slew, drove forward and squared for McKay, who swept into the corner from 12 yards.
Inverness were going all out for a third and Doran had a shot charged down by Yann Songo'o in front of goal.
Arquin and Slew combined on the edge of the area in the opening minute of the second half but Slew lost his balance at the vital moment.
County had a great chance to pull one back when Michael Tidser got on the end of a Cooper cross but his point-blank shot was parried by Brill.
The home side continued to push forward and Filip Kiss tried his luck from 25 yards but his effort flew narrowly past the upright.
But it was all over as a contest when Draper slipped the ball through for substitute Watkins to coolly drill the ball into the far corner.
