Falkirk 1-0 Hibernian (original) (raw)
David McCracken's last-minute winner gave Falkirk their third straight win in all competitions as Hibernian suffered a Scottish Championship loss.
Hibs' Paul Heffernan and Sam Stanton threatened, as did Bairns trio Rory Loy, Will Vaulks and Peter Grant.
The visitors' appeals for a penalty were waved away by referee Stephen Finnie after Scott Allan went tumbling in the box.
And McCracken's powerful late strike settled the match.
The defender thundered home a low shot from the edge of the penalty area when it seemed the points were to be shared in a largely drab encounter.
Heffernan, playing in place of suspended top scorer Dominique Malonga, had an early shot blocked and Falkirk midfielder Loy fired into the side-netting.
Heffernan headed just off target just before the half-hour mark and Falkirk pair Vaulks and Grant both went close before visiting midfielder Stanton's long-range effort flew inches wide at the end of the first half.
Vaulks had one effort blocked by Hibs goalkeeper Mark Oxley early in the second period and pulled another effort wide, while Loy lifted his shot over the crossbar soon after.
