Burton moved up to second in League One with a hard-fought win at Oldham.
Nasser El Khayati grabbed the only goal on 17 minutes when he fired in a low shot from inside the box.
Brewers goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin saved from Danny Philliskirk and then tipped Jay Fulton's looping header on to the bar to deny the Latics an equaliser.
Albion's Tom Flanagan had a header cleared off the line after the break, while Oldham's Mark Yeates drilled wide after a mazy run.
Burton are now level on points with league leaders Walsall, while Oldham are one point above the relegation zone.
Oldham manager David Dunn told BBC Radio Manchester:

"We got beat, so of course it's not a good result, but I thought performance wise there was not too much missing other than a couple of goals.
"You do miss your better players but we can't feel sorry for ourselves. Everyone misses key players at different times of the season.
"We need to stick together and hopefully players will come in and perform."
Burton manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink told BBC Radio Derby:

"It was not our best game, we have played more fluent. We have played better games. We couldn't really get in to our game but that is credit to Oldham, they don't give you a lot of time on the ball.
"We got our moment of magic but it was all about grinding the result out. It was all about the mental state - doing the discipline job, being resolute and not giving anything away."
