Cheltenham Town 2-3 Dagenham & Redbridge (original) (raw)

Cheltenham finished the season with a run of four straight home defeats after Dagenham edged a five-goal thriller.

Robins captain Steve Elliot opened the scoring with a close-range header but Sido Jombati's curling back-pass evaded Connor Roberts to level the match.

Matt Richards deflected shot put the hosts back in front but Scott Doe's far post effort brought the sides level.

The visitors secured the points when Adebayo Azeez pounced on the rebound after Gavin Hoyte's effort was saved.

Mark Yates: Cheltenham Town manager on defeat against Dagenham & Redbridge

Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:

"The first goal we conceded was ridiculous, the second was poor on our part, and the third one just sums us up.

"We know the young boys have got a bit of talent and it's up to us to nurture it and get it out there as much as we can at the right time. Today was just a time to give them a go, and I thought particularly in the first half their movement was good.

"When you're giving goals away like we give it's mind boggling."
