Dillon Gabriel now wearing No. 6 for Browns mandatory minicamp (original) (raw)

BEREA ― Dillon Gabriel no longer has to share his number with the new guy on the Cleveland Browns. Instead, he's sharing it with one who's currently on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, as well as a quarterback from the still-not-too-distant past.

Gabriel was wearing No. 6 as the Browns took the field June 9 for the start of mandatory minicamp. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah also has the number, but he will miss his second consecutive season due to a neck injury sustained in Week 8 of the 2024 season.

The number change was necessitated by the Browns' acquisition of defensive end Jared Verse from the Los Angeles Rams for Myles Garrett. Verse was given No. 8, the same number he wore while in Los Angeles.

The last quarteback to wear the No. 6 was Baker Mayfield from 2018-21. Gabriel has now had the No. 5, 8 and 6 since he was selected in the third round of the 2025 draft.
