A New Look at Josh Brolin in 'Jonah Hex' - Bloody Disgusting (original) (raw)
Nicolas Cage has made his first public comments about the upcoming Longlegs sequel, which was announced last month.
“I guess you could say I have the pride of ownership of that character,” Cage told THR. “That character is personal to me because I was influenced by my mom — not that my mom was crazy like that, she wasn’t satanic, but I don’t want someone else playing my mom, so if they’re gonna do it, you’re doing it with me.”
Unlike the first Longlegs, which was distributed by Neon in 2024, Paramount is backing the new film.
“I don’t know what the story is and I have not met the new Paramount,” Cage said of the studio’s new leadership under David Ellison. “I have worked with the old Paramount; my whole family has had a lot of projects there, so to me there’s really a lot of history there — Face/Off, The Godfather. I hope that whatever happens, they have the same regard for movies and filmmakers.”
Longlegs 2 is due out on January 14, 2028, with Osgood Perkins back to write and direct.
Plot details are under wraps, but the film is said to be “set in the Longlegs universe” — so don’t expect a traditional sequel.
In Longlegs, “FBI Agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe) is a gifted new recruit assigned to the unsolved case of an elusive serial killer (Cage). As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another family.”
Cage can next be seen in “Spider-Noir,” premiering May 17 on Prime Video. Meanwhile, Perkins’ The Young People is due out later this year.
