The sleepy, seaside town of Hopeville is shaken by the disappearance of a local storekeeper and the police believe the case may involve foul play. Helen begins to suspect Carl, her abusive boyfriend, is responsible for the murder, but feels compelled to protect him until a mysterious traveler arrives who might just turn out to be her ticket out of Hopeville.
