In 2017, director Christopher Landon brought �Happy Death Day� to screens, reworking the plot of �Groundhog Day� to fit the needs of slasher cinema, making a hit movie that played well with young audiences. Delighted to have a financial success to his name, Landon returned to the well less than two years later for �Happy Death Day 2U,� which wasn�t a hit, grossing half of the original film�s take.
