Setting sail to Hawaii, where the teenager hopes Georgia will coach her, Pam meets John Arlen (Pidgeon), a millionaire she mistakenly believes is in love with her. Upset to learn she's stolen the part from Georgia, Pam decides to give up the stage for John, a man who's twice her age and madly in love with her mom. Featuring four songs by Durbin, including the hit "Love Is All," It's a Date was a Universal Pictures release that was acquired and remade by M-G-M as Nancy Goes to Rio (1950), starring Jane Powell and Ann Sothern.
