The director of �Independence Day,� �2012,� and �White House Down� is trying to grow up. Roland Emmerich made an attempt for art-house legitimacy with 2011�s �Anonymous,� hoping some intrigue surrounding Shakespeare�s creative origins might stimulate a career detour into more respectable projects featuring real characters, not just cartoon creations battling heavy CGI.
