Greg Gebhardt announces bid for NC lieutenant governor (original) (raw)
Iraq War veteran and current North Carolina National Guard soldier Maj. Greg Gebhardt has announced his bid to become the next lieutenant governor of North Carolina.
In a news release, Gebhardt said he is "a proud conservative, husband, father and leader who seeks to continue a lifetime of selfless service through public office."
“From the day I raised my right hand and enlisted in the Army, to the oath I took as an officer upon graduation at West Point, to the oath sworn to serve in the North Carolina National Guard, I’ve dedicated my entire professional life to the service of our nation and this great state," stated Gebhardt.
"I look forward to meeting with folks across the state in the coming months to share our story; the story of the American dream that is alive and well. As lieutenant governor, I’ll fight to make sure every North Carolinian is afforded the opportunity to live their American dream."
Gebhardt is married to his high school sweetheart of 20 years, Carrie, who is a nurse in Fayetteville. They are the parents of three young daughters, Ellie, Lainey and Evie Joy, and reside in Holly Springs.
