Shiloh woman at large after being charged with battering a 3-week-old child (original) (raw)

A Shiloh woman remained at large on Tuesday after being charged in St. Clair County with aggravated battery of a child, police say.

Roxana L. Miranda, 39, of the 100 block of Kathy Drive in Shiloh, faces a three-count charge that was filed Monday morning by St. Clair County Assistant State’s Attorney Airika Detmer.

Shiloh police officers were dispatched to an area hospital on July 14 at about 8:37 a.m. to investigate injuries on a 3-week-old child. The child was treated locally, but transported to a St. Louis hospital due to the seriousness of the injuries.

Investigators determined the child had been left in the care of Miranda, who is a family member of the victim, police said.

It’s not clear how the two are related or what current condition the child is in.

Miranda has been charged with aggravated battery of a child, a felony, along with two misdemeanor counts of endangering the life and health of a child.
