Man with suspended license allegedly strikes, kills motorcyclist in Raynham (original) (raw)
An Avon man with a suspended license was arrested after allegedly crashing into and killing another man on a motorcycle, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Jacon Larsen, 22, has been charged with motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and operating a motor vehicle while having a license suspended for operating under the influence, as well as a marked lanes violation and failure to yield, the DA’s office said.
Larsen allegedly crashed into a motor vehicle at the intersection of South Street East and Hill Street just before noon Friday in Raynham.
When police arrived on the scene, the DA’s said they found Scott Piche, 52, of New Bedford lying on the road along with a heavily damaged Harley Davidson.
Piche was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Officers also observed the car Larsen was driving, a white Ford Explorer, with heavy front end damage, according to the DA. Larsen stayed at the scene and spoke with police, who discovered that the suspect’s license was suspended because of an OUI charge out of Taunton District Court.
Larsen is expected to be arraigned on the new charges Monday at Taunton District Court.
The DA’s office, the Mass State Police, and the Raynham Police Department are still investigating the incident.
