When is 5G Technology Coming to Pakistan?

The government has finished the arrangements to begin the implementation of the 5G network in Pakistan. According to the official papers, the Ministry of IT formulated a detailed roadmap for this implementation. By June 2025, 5G technology will be accessible to the entire country.

Auction Process to Start Soon

The government intends to auction the 5G spectrum over five stages. The process is set to begin next month. The PTA will elicit recommendations from experts and distribute them to the Spectrum Advisory Committee.

Policy Reforms and Pricing in March

In the second phase, the Advisory Committee will finalise policy changes. By March, they will set the spectrum prices and define commercial terms. This step will ensure a smooth and fair auction process.

The federal government plans to approve the policy directive in April. Afterwards, the PTA will conduct the spectrum auction in May 2025. The auction will include four spectrum bands: 700 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2600 MHz and 3500 MHz. These bands will help ensure that 5G is widely implemented across the country.
