Brokopondo, town, central Suriname. It is located along the Suriname River, between the Pheda Dam to the north and the Afobaka Dam to the south.
Aluminum is produced from bauxite in Brokopondo, using hydroelectric power generated by the dams. The town has an airstrip. Pop. (2004) 2,854.
