Robyn Hitchcock playing 'Black Snake Diamond Role' at Bowery Ballroom backed by Yo La Tengo (original) (raw)

Onetime Soft Boys frontman Robyn Hitchcock made his solo debut with 1981’s Black Snake Diamond Röle, a stone-cold psychedelic pop classic, and cuts like “The Man Who Invented Himself,” “Acid Bird,” “I Watch the Cars” and “Do Policeman Sing?” still sound great 35 years later. If you’ve never heard it, you can listen below.

Robyn will play Black Snake Diamond Röle in full at Bowery Ballroom on March 1, backed by Yo La Tengo (!). Tickets for that show go on sale Friday, December 9 at noon with an AmEx presale beginning Wednesday (12/7) at noon.

His only other North American show is in Boston, a couple days after the Bowery show, but no word on whether that is BSDR show, too. He and his partner Emma Swift will be in Australia this month for a few shows. All dates are listed below.
