We’ve all had cold pizza for breakfast at some point in our lives (right?), but intentionally making pizza for breakfast is a whole other ballgame. This easy breakfast pizza recipe means I can have pizza any time of day, and that makes me very happy! I use classic breakfast ingredients like eggs, bacon, and cheese to top my pizza, but I’ve shared other ideas below so you can customize yours based on what’s in your fridge. So, if you’re pizza-obsessed like me or just want to change up your weekend breakfast or brunch routine, you’ve got to make this breakfast pizza. It’s also perfect for brinner (breakfast for dinner)!

“Followed the recipe exactly. I let the classic pizza dough recipe do a three day rise in the fridge. Easy way to take it up a notch and add a lot of flavor.”

easy Breakfast Pizza recipe

Breakfast pizza essentially takes all the deliciousness of a traditional pizza and ‘_breakfast-ifies_‘ it. In my recipe, I top a regular pizza crust with the fillings and flavors you’d typically serve at breakfast, like eggs and bacon. I also add pizza sauce and shredded cheese because what’s a pizza without red sauce and cheese, EVEN if it’s for breakfast? I just love the combo of gooey melted cheese, savory sauce, and the runny egg yolks on top of a crispy crust. It’s like your favorite breakfast sandwich but made BETTER!

  1. Use less cheese and more eggs. Cheese can get pretty pricey. So, to cut some costs, I’d double the amount of eggs to cover more of the surface of the pizza and reduce the cheese by half. It will still be delicious!
  2. Cut back on the meat. The bacon is the most expensive ingredient I’ve used in this recipe, but you could easily cut the amount of meat in half and supplement with some extra veggies! Using lower-cost meat, like deli ham or sausage, is another great option.
  3. Use ingredients you have on hand. There’s nothing worse than letting food go to waste, so if you have any bell peppers, onions, spinach, tomatoes, ham, feta, breakfast sausage, or even hashbrowns or leftover scrambled eggs. Use them!

How to Make Breakfast Pizza Step- By-Step Photos

Cooked bacon in a skillet.

Cook the bacon: Cook 8 oz. bacon in a skillet over medium heat until brown and crispy. Drain the bacon on a paper towel-lined plate. (You can use breakfast sausage in place of bacon, if preferred.) Or, you can use my oven-baked bacon method.

Sauce being spread out on a pizza dough.

Make the pizza: Preheat the oven to 450ºF. Stretch 1 large pizza dough out over a pizza pan, then spread about ½ cup of pizza sauce over the surface of the dough (use more or less sauce to your liking).

Cheese on the pizza, eggs being cracked onto the cheese.

Sprinkle about 2 cups of shredded cheese over the surface of the pizza (I used a mix of cheddar and mozzarella because I’m using up leftovers!). I like to save a handful of the cheese to add on top of the eggs. Crack four eggs onto the pizza, spaced out evenly over the surface.

Bacon and more cheese added to the pizza.

Crumble the bacon over the surface of the pizza, then sprinkle any remaining cheese on top.

Baked breakfast pizza.

Bake the breakfast pizza: Make sure the oven is fully preheated to 450ºF, then bake the pizza for 12-15 minutes, or just until the egg whites are set, the yolks are still soft, and the dough is golden brown around the edges.

Breakfast pizza topped with green onions.

Garnish the pizza: Top the pizza with 2 sliced green onions.

Serve: Cut the pizza into eight pieces, then enjoy!

Storage & Reheating

I much prefer this breakfast dish served fresh, but it’s pizza, so even leftovers are pretty darn good! Store your cooled breakfast pizza slices covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. I’d reheat them in the oven to keep the crust crisp, but the microwave works fine in a pinch. Just keep in mind the crust will be softer when reheated in the microwave. Any runny egg yolks will also fully cook during reheating.

What to Serve With Breakfast Pizza

I like to pair this breakfast pizza with a chocolate coffee breakfast smoothie to get my morning going, because who doesn’t need a little caffeine boost, right? On the side, I like to have something sweet to offset the savoriness of the pizza, so I’ll prepare a batch of blueberry rhubarb muffins or use up some ripe bananas and make a homemade banana bread.
