“Followed the recipe exactly. I let the classic pizza dough recipe do a three day rise in the fridge. Easy way to take it up a notch and add a lot of flavor.”

easy Breakfast Pizza recipe
Breakfast pizza essentially takes all the deliciousness of a traditional pizza and ‘_breakfast-ifies_‘ it. In my recipe, I top a regular pizza crust with the fillings and flavors you’d typically serve at breakfast, like eggs and bacon. I also add pizza sauce and shredded cheese because what’s a pizza without red sauce and cheese, EVEN if it’s for breakfast? I just love the combo of gooey melted cheese, savory sauce, and the runny egg yolks on top of a crispy crust. It’s like your favorite breakfast sandwich but made BETTER!
- Use less cheese and more eggs. Cheese can get pretty pricey. So, to cut some costs, I’d double the amount of eggs to cover more of the surface of the pizza and reduce the cheese by half. It will still be delicious!
- Cut back on the meat. The bacon is the most expensive ingredient I’ve used in this recipe, but you could easily cut the amount of meat in half and supplement with some extra veggies! Using lower-cost meat, like deli ham or sausage, is another great option.
- Use ingredients you have on hand. There’s nothing worse than letting food go to waste, so if you have any bell peppers, onions, spinach, tomatoes, ham, feta, breakfast sausage, or even hashbrowns or leftover scrambled eggs. Use them!

Breakfast pizza, made with eggs, bacon, and cheese, is a great way to spice up your weekend breakfast or brunch routine!
Step-by-step photos can be seen below the recipe card.

Pizza Dough
- ▢ ¾ cup warm water ($0.00)
- ▢ 1 tsp yeast (active dry or instant, $0.15)
- ▢ 1 Tbsp sugar ($0.06)
- ▢ 2 cups all-purpose flour ($0.36)
- ▢ 1 tsp salt ($0.03)
- ▢ 1 Tbsp olive oil ($0.22)
Pizza Sauce
- ▢ 2 Tbsp olive oil ($0.44)
- ▢ 1 clove garlic (minced, $0.08)
- ▢ 28 oz. crushed tomatoes ($1.67)
- ▢ 6 oz. tomato paste ($0.94)
- ▢ ½ Tbsp sugar ($0.03)
- ▢ ¾ tsp salt ($0.03)
- ▢ 1 tsp basil ($0.10)
- ▢ ½ tsp dried oregano ($0.05)
- ▢ black pepper (freshly cracked, $0.08)
- ▢ pinch crushed red pepper (optional, $0.05)
Toppings
- ▢ 8 oz. bacon ($3.29)
- ▢ 2 cups shredded cheese ($1.78)
- ▢ 4 large eggs ($0.76)
- ▢ 2 green onions (sliced, $0.35)
Make the dough
- Dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water. Allow the yeast water to sit for about 5 minutes, or until a thick layer of foam develops on top.
- While you’re waiting for the yeast, add 1 cup of the flour and the salt to a large bowl, then stir well to combine.
- Add the olive oil to the yeast water, then pour the mixture into the bowl with the flour and salt. Begin adding more flour to the bowl, ¼ to ½ cup at a time, until it forms a ball of dough that can no longer be stirred with a spoon.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface, then knead for about 5 minutes, adding a little flour as you go to keep it from sticking.
- Place the kneaded dough back into the mixing bowl, drizzle with a little oil, then turn the dough to coat it with oil. Cover the bowl loosely and let the dough rise in a warm place for one hour, or until it is double in volume.
- Once risen, stretch or roll the dough out to a 14 to 16-inch circle, and place it on a pizza pan. It is now ready for toppings.
Make the sauce
- Add the olive oil and garlic to a sauce pot and cook over medium heat for 1-2 minutes, or just until the garlic is soft and fragrant.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, basil, oregano, some freshly cracked pepper (10-15 cranks of a pepper mill), and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
- Cover the pot, allow the pot to come to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, and let it simmer for 15 minutes minimum, or up to 30 minutes.
Make the Breakfast Pizza
- Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until brown and crispy. Drain the cooked bacon on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Preheat the oven to 450ºF. Stretch the pizza dough out over a pizza pan, then spread the pizza sauce evenly over the surface (leave about ½ inch of bare crust around the outer edge).
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the sauce. Crack 4 eggs onto the pizza, spaced out evenly over the surface, the crumble the bacon on top.
- Bake the pizza for 12-15 minutes in the preheated oven or until the crust is golden brown, the cheese is melted, and the eggs are cooked to your liking (solid whites, firm or liquid yolks).
- Top the baked pizza with green onion, slice into 8 pieces, then serve!

How to Make Breakfast Pizza Step- By-Step Photos

Cook the bacon: Cook 8 oz. bacon in a skillet over medium heat until brown and crispy. Drain the bacon on a paper towel-lined plate. (You can use breakfast sausage in place of bacon, if preferred.) Or, you can use my oven-baked bacon method.

Make the pizza: Preheat the oven to 450ºF. Stretch 1 large pizza dough out over a pizza pan, then spread about ½ cup of pizza sauce over the surface of the dough (use more or less sauce to your liking).

Sprinkle about 2 cups of shredded cheese over the surface of the pizza (I used a mix of cheddar and mozzarella because I’m using up leftovers!). I like to save a handful of the cheese to add on top of the eggs. Crack four eggs onto the pizza, spaced out evenly over the surface.

Crumble the bacon over the surface of the pizza, then sprinkle any remaining cheese on top.

Bake the breakfast pizza: Make sure the oven is fully preheated to 450ºF, then bake the pizza for 12-15 minutes, or just until the egg whites are set, the yolks are still soft, and the dough is golden brown around the edges.

Garnish the pizza: Top the pizza with 2 sliced green onions.

Serve: Cut the pizza into eight pieces, then enjoy!
Storage & Reheating
I much prefer this breakfast dish served fresh, but it’s pizza, so even leftovers are pretty darn good! Store your cooled breakfast pizza slices covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. I’d reheat them in the oven to keep the crust crisp, but the microwave works fine in a pinch. Just keep in mind the crust will be softer when reheated in the microwave. Any runny egg yolks will also fully cook during reheating.
What to Serve With Breakfast Pizza
I like to pair this breakfast pizza with a chocolate coffee breakfast smoothie to get my morning going, because who doesn’t need a little caffeine boost, right? On the side, I like to have something sweet to offset the savoriness of the pizza, so I’ll prepare a batch of blueberry rhubarb muffins or use up some ripe bananas and make a homemade banana bread.
