Greenlight greenlights second Grimm toon (original) (raw)

A second series of Simsala Grimm, the animated kids programme based on the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, is currently in the works at Germany's Greenlight Media.

The first series of the toon was produced completely by Greenlight, but the producer is now looking to bring in French and Irish coproducers to create the second series. Nikolaus Weil, coo for Greenlight, told C21: {The first series was very successful and we've already secured a major free-TV deal in France.{

A theatrical film based on the series is also currently in production. In 2002, the German production house teamed up with John Williams and BAF, the German tax fund, to produce the film. Greenlight has since sold all rights and interest of the movie package to Dresdner Bank, although it still holds back-end participation.

Called Happily N'ever After in the States, the theatrical features the voices of Sarah Michelle Gellar of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, her husband and actor Freddie Prinze Jr, comedian George Carlin and actor Sigourney Weaver.
