Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge Premiere Delayed in Light of Protests (original) (raw)

The new game show Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge has delayed its premiere in response to ongoing protests related to the death of George Floyd.

This news came from an Instagram post by the host of Jedi Temple Challenge, Ahmed Best. "I’m so pumped to share #jeditemplechallenge with everyone," Best wrote. "The fan response at Celebration last year was the beginning of my return to the galaxy I love so much. #KelleranBeq 'The Sabered Hand' is the first Black number one lead of anything #StarWars and that is so very important to me. I’m also a #producer of the show and that makes me doubly excited to bring this thing to you."

"But as a black man, a black father, a black producer and black artist I have to consider all that is happening in the world right now," he continued. "Our team has decided to push the premiere of #Jeditemplechallenge until next Wednesday June 10th. Hopefully we can be in a better headspace next week to enjoy this game show."

The very first Star Wars game show, Jedi Temple Challenge will present challenges to young contestants, testing them in fields related to strength, knowledge and bravery. The goal of these challenges will be to discover who is capable of becoming a Jedi Knight.

Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge is developed by Lucasfilm’s Scott Bromley and Steve Blank, executive produced by Capoferri, Christine Beebe, Dean Houser, David Chamberlin and Mike Antinoro and produced by Lucasfilm and Endeavor Content’s non-scripted group. Jedi Temple Challenge will now premiere its first two episodes on the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel on June 10.
