Kimiko in The Boys

The Boys star Karen Fukuhara offers fans a shockingly blunt explanation for her character's brutal fight scene from the Season 3 trailer.

While breaking down the trailer for Vanity Fair, Fukuhara, who plays Kimiko Miyashiro on the hit Amazon Prime series, explained an exceptionally brutal moment as plainly as she could. In reference to a scene from the trailer which sees the specific violence at hand obscured by the intense gore on display, Fukuhara remarked, "This season I got to learn a new skill, and basically in this scene I'm fighting someone with a bunch of dildos." She clarified, "And so what you just saw is some guy's face getting penetrated by a dildo. It was so much fun to shoot. Moving on."

Adapted from the 2006 comic book of the same name by co-creator and writer Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys follows the exploits of the eponymous team of vigilantes, specifically their anti-superhero endeavors. The series also explores the inherently corrupt and cruel nature of its superheroes, most of whom are worse than any of the threats they supposedly keep the world safe from. Apart from their own whims, The Boys' foremost superheroes, The Seven, are also largely guided by the Vought International, the corporation which prides itself in overseeing the production and management of these heroes for their own gain.

Fukuhara has played Kimiko, also known as the Female of the Species (or simply the Female), since the series premiered in 2019. Despite her underwhelming stature compared to the series' more imposing figures, Kimiko has proven herself to be one of if not the most viciously efficient vigilante on display. This is due in no small part to the superhuman abilities she acquired while being experimented on during her imprisonment at the hands of Vought as well as her penchant for using those powers to carry out acts of egregious violence.

Apart from seeing the return of the regular cast, The Boys Season 3 marks the debut of Jensen Ackles as Soldier-Boy, the series' explosive analog for Captain America. Remarking on some of the more outrageous scenes that were filmed for the upcoming season, Ackles said, "We had some big sequences this season. Just for one of the ones that I was involved with... Was probably several weeks." He jokingly added, "The best is when you get all the choreography down, they shoot it on an iPhone and send it over to L.A., and they're like - 'No."

Fans can catch all the gory action for themselves when The Boys Season 3 premieres on Amazon Prime Video on June 3.
