The Witch hazel family is comprised of about 100 species in 31 genera of shrubs and trees native to both tropical and temperate regions. It includes popular ornamentals such as witch hazel, winter hazel, fothergilla [2] (witch-alder), sweet gum and ironwood trees. [1]
