Historical hamming from the Carry On regulars. Henry VIII is up in arms about the garlic breath of his wife, Marie de Normandy. But although he finds it a turn-off, his equerry, Sir Roger de Loggerley, is enamoured by it and becomes her lover. The lecherous king, meanwhile, decides it is time for a new wife and plots with Thomas Cromwell and Cardinal Wolsey to get rid of Marie.

All does not go to plan for Henry, however; Marie's first cousin is Francis, the King of France, who alters between offering a substantial financial gift upon the birth of their first child, and threatening all-out war with England if she is in the least bit uncomfortable or upset!

It's all a bit too much for the King, especially when the royal physician announces she's fallen pregnant - he knows he can't be the father! But Marie and Roger's bedroom-doings could be just the excuse Henry needs, and after the beautiful young Bettina of Bristol arrives in court, he's keener than ever to see the back of Marie and her garlic-munching ways!
