On the top floor of a modern high-rise somewhere on the outskirts of East London, Alf Garnett and wife Else are still playing host to adult daughter Rita and her Scouse husband, Mike.
Both unemployed, Alf's as angry and frustrated as ever with their "sponging" and entitled taking of his hospitality - even in a home he still hates. In the flat next door, meanwhile, is the softly-spoken, genteel Ronald Frewin, with whom Alf commutes into London each day, and who also happens to be his bank manager.
Whilst all is sweetness and light with the Frewins out-of-doors, it soon becomes apparent he's the opposite of Alf in many ways: not letting his wife do any cooking, cleaning, shopping - or much to her boredom, pretty much else, for that matter! The two Garnett family marriages are no less divided, but ten times as argumentative!
Out at a local night club, Rita is particularly enraged to spot Mike chatting up an attractive young girl, and soon allows herself to be chatted up by the talented singer performing that evening: none other than TV star Kenny Lynch.
As both parties look set to stray from their marital vows, the strained and eventful Garnett family saga is showing no sign of drawing to a close!
