Author Grant Henry is a mildly successful novelist, but by far the biggest source of income is his side trade as a cat burglar!
Utilising his publisher's more seedy business contacts to fence the loot, Grant has begun creeping about the homes of London's wealthy in the dead of night, stealing precious items (with a penchant for jewels) - and, always making sure no man is at home at the time, seducing his female victims should they catch him.
Tall, handsome and athletic, he's able to put his way with words to fine use in this department and quickly has each target not only welcoming him into their bed but also concocting wild descriptions of the perpetrator to ensure the police never find him; perhaps in hope he may come again.
Sure enough the police are left scratching their heads: the modus operandi is always the same, but the descriptions vary so wildly - are they in fact on the lookout for a gang, or an out-of-work actor who's a master of disguise? It takes insurance company investigator Judy to start thinking that perhaps there's something even more intriguing going on than some simple burglaries and start questioning the witnesses' statements.
