Ghosts - Series 2, Episode 1 - The Grey Lady - British Comedy Guide (original) (raw)
Alison and Mike are trying to find a semi-harmonious routine with the ghostly housemates of Button House. The ghosts have found a way to make their new situation work for them, while the couple are working towards a new money-making venture to fund their perpetual renovations.
Further details
Without the money to continue the extensive building work and the hotel still a distant dream, Alison and Mike decide to try to rent the place out for events. After a paranormal photo of the house goes viral overnight, Alison and Mike worry that it will ruin the house's reputation. As they scramble to debunk the spooky rumours and convince people that the house is spectre-free, they spot their opportunity to bring money in faster: they'll use the ghosts' 'talents' to create an authentic haunted house experience.
But will Alison and Mike be able to convince the ghosts to be exploited for money-making gains? They may have underestimated their punters' ability to smell a rat...

Ghosts review
It's laugh-out-loud funny, but they might as well have called it Are You Being Haunted?.

Ghosts review - silly family fun & boy do we need it
Ghosts returned for a second series in the saner pre-watershed slot of 8.30pm. I don't know what BBC One was thinking last time scheduling it at 9.30pm: it's hardly Fleabag. Plus if anyone can be trusted to do a decent double entendre that adults will get but kids probably won't, it is this fine and much-loved former Horrible Histories team.

TV review: Ghosts Series 2 Episode 1
There's still enough going on here that it's a show I'm extremely fond of, the cast are without exception bloody superb, and the concept is an appealing one indeed. But whereas the majority of the previous series were of the four star and more variety this was definitely one of the weaker episodes, enjoyable for sure, but lacking in moments which would make anyone laugh out loud over and over again.

Ghosts Series 2 review
It's been more than a year since Ghosts were on our screens - but it seems like they have never been away, such is the way these spooks from down the ages already feel so familiar.

Ghosts Series 2 review
Ghost-hunters descend on beleaguered couple Mike and Alison's country pile, as the grown-up comedy from the Horrible Histories team returns for more crude yet clever laughs.
Rebecca Nicholson, The Guardian, 21st September 2020
Ghosts, BBC1, review
A pleasingly daft comedy fit for the whole family.
