A First World War soldier serves up some peculiar sounding dishes in Historical Masterchef, and some unusual cures for frost-bite are discovered in the trenches.

Bob Hale recounts the rise and fall of the Anglo Saxons in 90 seconds, the Gorgeous Georgians reveal their bizarre sources of amusement, and an advert for Danke magazine shows the sartorial choices of the Goth tribes.

The show finishes in the Slimy Stuart era, where a doctor finds a literal way of conducting field work and Charles I and Oliver Cromwell are pitted against each other in a rousing song about the English Civil War.
