It's the day of the scheduled fire drill and Julie's still off, so Gavin steps in to brief the troops, stressing the importance of beating the store's personal best. Learning that Margaret didn't 'escape', a guilt-ridden Gavin realises he needs Julie back more than ever. Katie takes the mick out of Kieran's fire steward duties, and fun quickly turns to flirting until Katie lets something slip.

The battle between the butchers and bakers takes an interesting turn when, thanks to a broken oven, Andy is left with no choice but to take Sharon on at the meat counter. Colin is a changed man since being dumped by Lisa and even helps a customer, while Neville thinks his luck has finally changed after someone offers to give him a cut of their lottery winnings.
