Let’s start with your hometown, Bologna. How do you think the city influenced your development?
I’ve always traveled a lot. As a child, I moved from city to city with my family, my father was a professional basketball player. Later, I moved for both study and work. This exposure to different places shaped my personality. However, Bologna has always inspired me. It’s a vibrant city, rich in culture and driven by young people pursuing their dreams. Its iconic porticoes create a sense of community, encouraging people to come together.
How do you describe your work to friends and family?
I explain that being an editor is all about storytelling. I emphasize that fashion isn’t confined to its own world but interacts with society, almost like a “second skin.” It reflects who we are, our personalities, and ideas. Style, after all, is a way of expressing oneself, and fashion is a powerful lens through which we can understand the world and the people in it.
What do you think is the most useful skill to unite the diverse personalities within the editorial team at Vogue Italy?
The key is being a true team player and always putting the brand first. It’s never about personal recognition, it’s about what’s best for Vogue. Our editorial staff are a creative ecosystem, and it only functions well when we work collaboratively, and think about the bigger picture rather than individual success. It’s that shared vision that drives us forward as a team.
How has being Head of Editorial Content at Vogue Italia influenced your experience of motherhood?
For me, Vogue is synonymous with life itself. It’s especially meaningful to have celebrated Vogue Italia’s 60th anniversary the same year I became a mother. I’m grateful for the guidance of mentors and the progress made by previous generations, allowing me to fully embrace motherhood without feeling the need to sacrifice my career. This balance is a privilege I deeply appreciate in both my personal and professional life.
On the topic of the 60th anniversary, how has Vogue Italia changed over time, and what do you see for its future?
Vogue Italia has always been at the forefront of change, unafraid to embrace the future. Over six decades, it has captured how fashion reflects society, playing a pivotal role in women’s emancipation and shaping Italy’s cultural taste. Vogue has never stopped pushing boundaries, advocating for revolutions in style and thought. Each cultural shift it documents is a legacy we’re responsible for, continuing to challenge norms with elegance and grace.
