Rifugio Palmieri, a wonderful hut below the imposing Croda da Lago (original) (raw)

Welcome to the website of the Croda da Lago – G. Palmieri mountain hut

The wonderful mountain hut, located at the heart of the Ampezzo Dolomites, is placed in the gaudy green of high-altitude pastures and surrounded by beautiful larches, mountain pines and swiss pines.
The mountain hut lies at the foot of the impressive Croda da Lago mountain. From here, you can admire the distinctive Becco di Mezzodì, reflected in the suggestive Lake Federa, just a stone’s throw away from the mountain hut.

It is open during summer and autumn months, from June to November and represents an ideal starting point for excursionists, cyclists and alpinists.
It is located along the “Alta Via 1”, (short variant) which is a very renowned multi-day trekking path in the Dolomites, starting from Lake Braies and arriving in Belluno, going through the Dolomites from North to South.

Mountain bike lovers,Mountain bike lovers reach the mountain hut from the paved road from the town of Cortina d’Ampezzo, while alpinists can venture on the several climbing routes of the Croda da Lago and Becco di Mezzodì mountains. Furthermore, a few minutes’ walk away for the mountain hut, just above Lake Federa, there is a cliff from where to enjoy a unique view and a rock that leaves its mark.

The Alverà family will be pleased to have you for a quick lunch, a good dessert cake – rigorously homemade – or to just live an unforgettable experience in our mountain hut, at 2046 meters above sea level.
