Awards and accreditations
Our Computing Science courses are accredited by the British Computer Society, and our Mathematics degrees by the Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications.
BSc single honours graduates are fully accredited by the British Computer Society for the educational requirements of being a Chartered Information Technology Professional (CITP), which is the Society’s professional member level.
Our research
We provide a stimulating and lively environment for students, research fellows and visitors on one of the most beautiful campuses in the world. Computing Science is part of the Scottish Informatics and Computer Science Alliance (SICSA) - a Scotland-wide pooling initiative to exchange research and knowledge.

Our industry and global connections
We have strong links with Scottish industry through its Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) – with members from both Scottish and international companies such as IBM, HSBC and Adobe.
We are a member of The Data Lab, which is an Innovation Centre with the aim of developing data science talent and skills required by the industry in Scotland.
Our MSc Big Data has been developed in partnership with global and local companies who employ data scientists. HSBC have a development centre in Stirling and have provided some very interesting Big Data projects to our students. Amazon’s development centre in Scotland is close by in Edinburgh.
We also have a programme of invited speakers from industry who give the students a chance to ask questions of people who are doing data science every day. Recent companies have included MongoDB, SkyScanner and HSBC.
