A woman has died after a tree branch fell on her while wild weather batters Sydney.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident on Castlereagh Street in Liverpool, in the city's southwest, about 1pm on Sunday.
The woman, aged in her 60s, died at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics. She is yet to be identified.
NSW Police confirmed officers have commenced inquiries and will prepare a report for the coroner.
The Bureau of Meteorology warned of gale force winds as fast as 75km/h for swathes of New South Wales' coastline on Sunday.
'Conditions about the coast could bring down trees and cause localised damage and possible coastal erosion,' a post to the bureau's social media reads.
Police and paramedics could be seen battling with the winds as they tried to hold a tarpaulin to obstruct the view of locals.
More to come.
