Woman operating moped dies in crash off Big Bethel Road in Hampton (original) (raw)
HAMPTON — A moped operator died following a crash Monday night.
Around 6:43 p.m., dispatchers received a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Big Bethel Road and Lassiter Drive, according to a release.
When police officers arrived, they found a vehicle and a moped operator who was unresponsive. Members of the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue arrived and attempted life-saving measures, police said. The moped operator, who police said was a woman, died on the way to a local hospital, according to police. Police have not released her name.
Police believe the moped operator was traveling in the area when it collided with another vehicle, though police have not released any other information about the crash.
The Hampton Police Division’s Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating.
