Fire crews battling blaze at former Dreghorn Primary School (original) (raw)

Emergency services are currently at the scene.

The former Dreghorn Primary School building has gone up in flames this evening.

Fire crews are currently in attendance at the historic building on the village's Main Street.

The road is cordoned off in both directions as emergency services deal with the incident.

More recently the former school was used as a base for Arran Brewery.

However, the site became a target for vandals since it was taken over by the firm.

The building is where former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon attended primary school before a new bespoke school was opened in 2013 to serve the village and surrounding area.
