Road traffic police and the police helicopter were called after a black Ford Mondeo failed to stop in Glenrothes.

A dramatic police chase ended in a residential area in Kirkcaldy after a driver failed to stop in Glenrothes. Police pursued the black Ford Mondeo through the streets of the Fife town as they tried to evade officers.

Reports of a car being driven "irresponsibly" on Huntly Drive in Glenrothes were received at around 10.35pm last night, Friday, March 13. However, when approached by police, car failed to stop and made off.

The police helicopter was called in to support road traffic police as they attempted to bring the car to a stop safely. The car was eventually stopped on Hayfield Road in Kirkcaldy.

Police did not say whether the driver of the car was known or if they were arrested or spoken to following the chase. However, they did confirm that no one was injured during the pursuit.

Data from flight tracking app FlightRadar24 shows the police helicopter circling the skies above Hayfield Road from around 11.50pm before heading back to base at around 12.05am.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.35pm on Friday, March 13, police were called to Huntly Drive, Glenrothes, following a report of vehicle being driven irresponsibly.

"The vehicle failed to stop for police and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle was stopped in Hayfield Road, Kirkcaldy. There were no reports of any injury and enquiries are continuing."
